Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
80,000 is probably just the RM, membership, don't forget they have members from BT and O2 as well, from talking to some of the BT members they seem to think they are a waste of space too, have met. A few BT members moaning about new things being introduced and the union just rolls over and excepts it, sounds familiar.

Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
Many of these Little add ons like weekly resource meetings, full inclusion in planning which if that was true why have all the planners been managers are just in the minds eye and not at all the reality. I'm afraid the union hierarchy are so far removed from the shop floor they no longer deal with the real issues that face the members. The new approach by RM is moving at a pace beyond their capacity to do anything but agree, so where does that leave us?Lincox wrote:£3 a week for I believe somewhere in the region of 80,000 members is nearly quarter of a million weekly income. Many businesses would like to be earning that. If they cannot protect the members against the daily bullying rituals with that sort of clout then they don,t deserve to survive.

We should concentrate on forming smaller, local, union groups that actually have an understanding of the workplace. This is where the subs should be spent. I have never been invited to a union meeting, but if the local involvement was encouraged, people might become interested again.dvbuk55 wrote:Many of these Little add ons like weekly resource meetings, full inclusion in planning which if that was true why have all the planners been managers are just in the minds eye and not at all the reality. Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
Contrary to popular belief we DO have smaller local union groups called Branch Offices but you won't be invited to see the inner workings of same because they don't want you there. They have firmly allied themselves to HQ in the same way that HQ have allied themselves to RM, Branch are afraid of rocking the big boys boat and HQ are afraid of being side lined, which looks increasingly more likely as time goes on.tansorboy wrote:We should concentrate on forming smaller, local, union groups that actually have an understanding of the workplace. Perhaps it,s time to organise a vote of no confidence in the way the establishment is running things. Perhaps this could be done on a National Ballot format. Anyone have any suggestions.

Sad world we live in DVB when the people who are employed by us work for the opposition.

Nobody is saying we don't need a union, but we need a union that will look after our T&C's, not one that has jumped into bed with RM upper management.tansorboy wrote:Yeah, let's all leave the union and see how long we last!Cut Off King wrote:industrial action ballots.
After the last few agreements, ( Lapsing, D2D payment stopped, NDA lost etc.etc. ) Do the CWU really think that they have any support in D.O.'s anymore ?
Cry wolf again ?
The CWU has traded our T&C's AWAY for a few £'s in the pay packet
I for one would rather have a better work / life balance that working at 100+% bsi ( rather that the recognised acac & BCC workrate of 75% bsi )
WHAT HAVE THE CWU DONE ABOUT....
People starting early ?
Imposed lapsing of IPS, delivery & prep ?
Time allowance for D2D prep?
Runners ?
Mail centre closures ?
Health and safety breaches ?
Managers doing OPG's work ?
Cutting of S.A. & collections ?
Driving allowance & NDA ?
I'm sure that others could add to the list

Brilliant, we have had one in my particular office for 2plus years , it gets you no where. I know I was heavily involved at the particular time. Absolutely useless , the next time you are wiping your arse think about CWU. that's what royal mail/moya does.tansorboy wrote:We should concentrate on forming smaller, local, union groups that actually have an understanding of the workplace. Trade unions were banned in Nazi Germany and the state took over the role of looking after the working class.Dumpys Rusty Nuts wrote: Brilliant, we have had one in my particular office for 2plus years , it gets you no where. I know I was heavily involved at the particular time.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

When he said he was heavily involved he meant he cleared the chairs away after use of said committee.clashcityrocker wrote:Trade unions were banned in Nazi Germany and the state took over the role of looking after the working class.Dumpys Rusty Nuts wrote: Brilliant, we have had one in my particular office for 2plus years , it gets you no where. Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
I would assume this will mostly affect those areas where Amazon does not intend to deliver its own parcels or where the cost would be prohibitive. There is no "good news" contained in this LTB. Should we blame the union? No, not for a managerial decision taken outside national agreements but it will be the union's reaction that can and should be judged. Nothing short of a complete retraction and a commitment to a negotiated settlement will be acceptable.hertsman0 wrote:Surely if Amazon are delivering their own packets they are currently not going through the mail centres now . So if us posties are to start delivering packets dropped off at the DO,s at least we would have some of the business back and bring revenue into the company .Which pays our wages, pensions etc . I don't get the CWU on this one .
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

But what is most likely is another "Joint Statement" to mollify the troops and making a bad situation palatable.
