Re: Union agrees yet another extension
That's not a very democratic position for a union member to take.arsenalbob wrote:stop the negativity Some one in the know said here last week that a very good deal is being finalised so lets put a lid on it until we actually know
Let's not put a lid on anything, let's allow an open discussion on of all things...a discussion forum.

Re: CWU LETTER
It's not strange,It's just not very true that they didn't know..cloherty1976 wrote:To me it's quite strange how the lawyers did not know how long the ballot can be extended from the outset?
It's in the dti guidance which is basically Industrial Action for dummies.
46. If the inducement of industrial action to
which the ballot relates is to be capable of
being protected by the law, some part of the
action must be induced and start to take
place within four weeks from the date of the
ballot (i.e. the last day on which votes may
be cast in the ballot) or such longer period
not exceeding eight weeks as the union and
employer may agree.
Eight weeks from the 15th of October is the 10th of December.
Seven days notice means the last day action can be called is the 3rd of December.
If an employment lawyer doesn't know that...well let's just say I don't hold out much hope for these legally binding agreements being very legally binding.

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
Quite right fish tank , there are those who may be happy with the way things are being handled and those who feel that the union have lost the initiative ,time will tell but this is a forum for individual views and debate , not to put a lid on it and be quiet. If that is the case .....putting a lid on it, then lets close this site down and not air our views.

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
The trouble is we've been here before and the people in the know told us they were good deals in 2010 & the previous dispute.both times they were rubbish deals and we all got shafted, especially in delivery.I personally am very sceptical especially as its the same people negotiating as beforearsenalbob wrote:stop the negativity Some one in the know said here last week that a very good deal is being finalised so lets put a lid on it until we actually know

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
Is this the absolute final, final extension, or the definitely the last, final, never again, nope, no chance of another one, final, final, final extension...until the next one?
And how many final extensions can they 'agree' to before the RM negotiators just laugh in their face?
And would anyone be surprised?

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
My biggest worry is that the union by taking this long to attempt to resolve the delivery issues has set a very high bar in relation to what the members will see coming out the other end.
There are already enough members who think that deliveries has been sold short, what will be the response if..
a) Any resultant deal on workload which may actually help in the long run is wrapped up in terms that are meaningless to the members.
b) Any resultant deal on workload is just meaningless.
What would be the headline grabbers that would make delivery members feel that their issues have been addressed? There will be no return to the good old days of bikes and early finishes, lapsing and absorbing may be more structured but they won't be going away, bullying and harassment is almost impossible to address while the business like a typical addict continues to deny it's a problem,1 in 4 Saturdays for all?...unlikely,Pegasus and the IWT binned?...not going to happen,Longer breaks?...I doubt it.
So what sexy items will satisfy delivery members?

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
From the snippets we get on here and hear in work we know that the pay offer will be an improvement on the first one and that t and c's will be legally protected for longer. This is fine by me . We won't know until next week where we are with delivery workload but whatever the outcome is i will do as i always have done and bring back what i can't deliver in my duty time and then it is not my problem So that will also be fine by me Off now to watch a good football team trying to win a game That is my only concern at this moment in time

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
Why are you chaps so ungrateful. The company have let us extend the validity of our industrial action ballot. Well I think this is very nice of them. This is not gobbledygook. You don't have to be a lawyer to figure this out! An agreement will soon be on the table. It all sounds rather good. That's if you still have a job at the end of the day? They seem to be stuck on the delivery workload issues, but don't worry they will always be able to find some muppet to run round the walk and finish an hour before everybody else. however big the delivery is.

Re: Union agrees yet another extension
There is no agreement. This will drag on until after Christmas. Union will say that there is enough done so far not to strike. After Christmas RM will tell them to do one. If they can't agree now you honestly think in 7 days everything will he rosey? Joke!
