Well Santa Claus doesn't exist, like all myths they've been done to death and it's time Santa was put to the sword. Royal Mail have done enough negative spin in the press, around the free shares fiasco, that the public already think we are greedy, work-shy scallys, so it won't make much difference. To be honest, I don't get enough time to stop and chat with any customers now anyway, so they can think what they like.

Yes but it's a bit difficult for me to speak on their behalf. I'm posting here as a union member, not a rep. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in caring more about my job and future, than Christmas this year.

This whole saga about Christmas makes me laugh, like what has already been stated previously, if you are going to take strike action it has got to be meaningful, at the height of the bussiest period in the RM callender would be unpresidented and would cause the most damage striking strait to the heart of the RM blood line,( which we all know is money)
The timing of this action has in my mind been set to coincide with the seasonal uplift, but this time unlike the past we should drive the stake straight thru RM's heart, the public do have a massive contribution to play, but like everything else they can't be bothered about the service WE provide them with on a daily basis until Christmas, the days are short numbered now for those that have cared about the Service, its time to make that stand for what YOU think is right NOT for what other people want, the money is already beginning to talk (FTSE 100)

I think everyone is missing the point about striking through Christmas.
It's not really about the public,the public would still get their cards and presents because RM would just shove everything else on the back burner.
The real reason Christmas strikes won't work is because you cannot ask members to sacrifice their Christmas for the cause.
Well you can ask but they just won't do it.
The strikes would collapse.
The plan would fail.

I can see both sides of the coin, but when push comes to shove, then we have got to put our T&C's and long term job security first....after all where were the public while we were being privatised ?
Most people didn't like the thought of us being privatised, but they weren't prepaired to do anything about it

Our jobs & future MUST be our priority.

A rapid ramping up in Nov. will help concentrate the negotiations on both sides !

Both sides will have to give a little to get an agreement

But a HAPPY workforce is a PRODUCTIVE workforce

Yes, yes and yes. 4th, 11th, 16th and 18th and if that doesn't have an impact, go for the secondary ballots but I'm not a fan - for me it's fix bayonets time - only once in my case but it certainly has an impact.
