With regards to Grangemouth/Unite, I was a unite member a few years ago working at a Government company that was privatised. Prior to being sold most workers said "nobody will buy us due to final salary pension, pay, holidays etc".A few years later the new owners say "we can't afford your final salary pension anymore" despite knowing what it cost when buying us, very similar to Grangemouth/Ineos. Unite were useless, they went on the basis that the fact we were still going to get some contribution, we should be happy. Redundancy should have been 3 years pay but because it included age related benefits, this was declared illegal, we got 1 year. Again Unites view was it's better than some redundancy deals out there.

These are just some of the things I hope CWU are stronger dealing with as I think as soon as the 3 year deal is up things will change in a major way.

the message came up on the pda, and also said to visit rm website/tv. it turns out they were on about the cwu have not yet served notice about the strike, giving the impression (by them anyway) that talks may be productive. just more of their propaganda really.

I suppose Grangemouth is also not a small business but businesses are there to make profit and will all endeavour to cut cost when their desirable level of profit is not being achieved... (whether the desirable level is fair or not - that is a socio-economic issue).

Anyway, what part of 'its a different scenario (to RM) is hard to understand'.

Which is why I am glad you don't negotiate our terms and conditions away not that you are in the union or have any position in it you would have sold us all down the river long ago for your 30 pieces of silver!

what is acceptable for a deal to be made? I would compremise on the ten year deal on T&C, and accept a five year deal, do not know how the pension offer affects me, so what is acceptable on that, we have to get a cast iron agreement on what constitutes a fair days workload in delivery as so many revisions are just not working and the bullying and harassing by managers has got to be dealt with, so we can all move forward!!!... IS THAT ENOUGH???

Am I bad! What was I thinking - you are absolutely right.

After months of negotiation (Thanks to the CWU, btw) the offer from RM is Derisory* and we should fight THEM :vcfo :dcfo :ncfo until they cave in to all our demands.

As to the Pieces of Silver - folks please stop talking about losing £50 and poss £300 (pro rata) - it is doing my head in
