7 days, rule of thumb though,if you go sick on the Monday, phone in on the Saturday and tell them you will resume on Mon,so you will only get done for 6 days so no docs note needed.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

thanks very much for the fast response. just to clarify if phoned on the 7th day off to confirm return the following day, would a note be needed?

Yes you would need a docs note as you are resuming on the '8th' day.

Nicked from the new Attendance Agreement.

Medical certificates
What type of medical certificate is required?

When an employee is absent from work due to illness they will need to produce certification for sick pay purposes as detailed in the table below:

Length of Absence*** ...............................................Type of Certificate
Less than seven days or first seven days of illness*...........Absence Declaration Form
More than seven days**..............................................A Medical Certificate or ‘Fit Note’ from a registered doctor, usually the GP

Notes
* Where the absence is longer than seven days the absence declaration form can be completed on return to work
**If the employee is taken ill while abroad, certification from a registered doctor must be supplied on a weekly basis
***Absence is counted as continuous from the first day of absence until the employee returns to work and includes weekends and non-working days

Absences of seven days or less
Where an employee’s absence lasts for seven days or less, the manager should ask them to complete an Absence Declaration Form at the welcome back meeting.

Absences of more than seven days
Where an employee’s absence lasts for more than seven days, they will need to provide a medical certificate, which can also be known as a ‘Fit Note’, to cover continuing absence until they return to work. This should be sent or given to the manager. The manager will record the information on Managing My Team on PSP.

Once the manager has recorded the appropriate information on Managing My Team on PSP a prompt will be generated before the end date of the medical certificate, to remind the manager to discuss with the employee whether they intend to return to work at the end of the certification period, or whether they will be providing a further certificate. Where a further certificate is received, the manager should update the employee absence record on Managing My Team on PSP.

What happens if an employee’s medical certificate expires?
If an employee’s medical certificate expires, the employee does not attend work and has not provided a new one, please refer to the ‘Failure to maintain contact’ section above.

hi guys can anyone give me a bit of advice please as to how we go about getting rid of our rep in our office.
he has been rep for years and we are now going through revision and has bn sitting on a 50 minute delivery for the last 5 years laughing at us all. we are now fed up and because of the revision e.t.c. we want him ousted . can we just oust him with some sort of vote or is there a proccess for a deployment of another rep?

we have never had a vote for years e.t.c. but there is a few that wish to step up to the mark now and oust him so we get fairness in the revisuion e.t.c.
i would be grateful for some simple advice or a download on this please.

many thanks

You have a vote of no confidence.
You need to contact your Branch and ask them for the correct procedure.

In ours you get as many members as possible to sign a vote of no confidence.
Send it to Branch (and Wimbledon)
The rep has the right of reply at a meeting convened when and where they want
And then you vote again.

It is unlikely your Branch will be very enthusiastic about you trying to oust the rep.
Persevere ......if that's what you really want.
