Hayes only got to DGS by making tub thumping speeches about Copperas Hill , Liverpool being closed and the work being moved to Warrington as he'd the backing of a large branch and not being Keggie .

.

Billy has never been DGS he went straight to GS from outdoor secretary
my fault for taking something on a Anarchists forum as read , it wasn't my cup of tea but interesting and enlightening all the same .
I've had the misfortune of being present at a meeting where Billy was leading the negotiations at a meeting with the acting GS of the GMB, Paul Kenny, and i have to state the guy was a lightweight in every sense. He cut a pathetic sight during the meeting heaping compliment upon compliment on Kenny without ever cutting to the chase concerning what it was we were after.

The meeting took place at GMB HQ situated in Worple Rd, Wimbledon, not far from CWU HQ. Before the meeting we agreed a strategy among ourselves with Billy leading the line. Things quickly deteriorated when Billy got himself into such a muddle that he was barely coherent. A member of the PEC who was in attendance took over the meeting thankfully sparing us all further embarrassment at Billy’s expense. The guy was without doubt a liability.

We left the meeting having secured a number of action points which were to be initiated within defined timescales.

I was also present during a phone call between these 2 GS’ at Conference and was shocked to hear Billy singing down the phone to Paul Kenny.

A number of months later another meeting took place with the same people in attendance this time during a lobby of parliament, Westminster that is, (not Stormont) and during an aside with Paul Kenny he said in reference to Billy, “that guy’s a clownâ€

Billy Hayes

A few points 1. The Scousers don't rate him , they just see him as a thick chancer that just happened to be in the right place at the right time and they regret giving him backing , It's the Peter Principle , just like RM has managers that should never have been promoted or would have been OK 20-30 years ago ,the CWU can be mirrored version of RM.

2. His TV interviews , it's like a Naughty schoolboy who has been summoned to the Headmaster's Office . The only time he has come over well is in a Guardian Interview but that's probably got more to do a with a half decent journalist .

3. Staff have noticed there has been a frosty atmosphere with him and Ward . Was it like an old married couple who've had a tiff or a row ? or is there more to it ?

4. The Pro RM /Propaganda Forums really went for Hayes but not Ward . 5. His sniffy , sulky attitude when put on the spot as posted on here . 6. I can't see New Labour headhunting him , Johnson wanted Jeannie Drake onside for good reason .

There's no smoke without fire .The CWU was fighting for it's very existence in the dispute and Billy simply wasn't good enough so it's sorry but we'll have to let you go . Finally you simply can't have someone who is always having the p*** taken out of him and it's not just banter about pies as there's many a true word spoken in jest . The CWU can close ranks to a point but usually people that have become a laughing stock , have to go in Politics .
