Its the frame that you throw the walk into.

They used to be boxed frames like the firms runs use - you had to sort it all twice. A least I think I am right.

angrypostie wrote:Well as i said i was this close to walking out on it today, but i need the money and i feel tbh totally c**p because i dont know where i stand, or what earful im gonna get in the morning because once again i have been able to even look at the d2ds this week, i know its pathetic but ive actually lost sleep over them this week because im panicing where i can lose my job if their not done. I dont mind being moved around, aslong as my walk is basically prepped and i get shown on the frame how to tie it up in consideration of the boxes, but theres only so much i can physically do in 1hr30mins at the depot and d2ds this week is not one of them, to be honest i havent joined the union yet :\
So theres no hope in hell tomorrow im gonna take 100% of the d2ds to save my job
well i agree with l tommo on this bad boy,i started the same time as you and luckily ive stayed on the one round till i found my feet.its not your concern when the bags have to be ready.they are ready when their ready.come in at your start time if its not done storm in office and demand to know why not..simple ..he should say sorry and could you do it...and then he can set about the lazy good for nothing union guy who should be doing it..(sorry about that little union dig but i bet hes in it)
as for d2d your only allowed to deliver them Monday to Friday.
and putting them in the frame is supposed to be on your own time as you get paid extra.
so if your going to go in early put your d2d in and that will give you time to ask dom why no ones preping your frame
if he starts giving you s**t ask for a grievance form cant get rid of you while you have a greivance then your 6 months will be up and you can be a right fooker...

im also with postie....wheres the fulltime union jobsworth's kinda proving there there for themselves.me me me
If you read the thread from the beginning, angrypostie is not a union member and has been advised to join and speak to the rep. I notice that you managed to get 2 digs in at the union in 1 post, well done.

RM2000 is your sorting frame, I think JP is right, when I was tested it was 25 letters in a minute.

......ignore the rules about dtd prep and % per day delivery because as long as they are not there at the end of the week the management will be delighted and won't care how you accomplished it.

This works well if you are on a walk for the week - first day, select the first of your dtd items (assuming you have three a week as most do) when you have prepped your frame put one leaflet in each slot that remains empty and leave it in there while you pack your delivery-If you have normal daily coverage, popping these into the frame will take about a minute - take the rest out with you packing an approximation of the number you need into each satchel (overestimate so that you don't run out halfway through a bag).

Take a dozen or so dtd's out and put on the back of each bundle as you are delivering them, peeling one off the back for each address you go to - if you aren't calling at an address then you know the dtd for that one is in your frame for when you have mail for them.

Repeat each day and as the ones left in the frame will usually go within a couple of days you should have them all delivered within 4 days with hardly any effort. Any left by friday just mark in the corner with a door number for that address and take them out anyway.

I must admit that when they are a bit bulkier I am inclined to go in an hour early on a monday and put the whole lot in the frame and then between 80 - 95% are gone in the first day but as we are are paid extra for doing them I don't have a conscience about that - but even if I have finished them before start time I will not start prepping mail.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Here is the 2 paragraphs I was able to get about prep from the D2D agreement - its old 1995 but after a full search on the CWU website its the latest I can find.

THIS IS WHAT I DO EVER MONDAY.its so much easier...but i always start preping when i go in, a conscience a that..its not my idea of a good time to sit around scratching my arse.i start early for two reasons.
1,the fulltimer who when i started bitched and moaned he had to wait for me..teamwork
2,if im out 20minutes early thats 20 earlier home .my manager couldn't give a 4x how early we go home.cos thats the job and she was a postie too
FOR HERE IS THE REAL REASON cantypeANDSHOUTS IS ON HERE FOR HE WORK'S HALF THE HOUR'S AND STILL WANT'S TO FINNISH IN HALF THE TIME!. MANAGEMENT IS THE JOB FOR YOU MY FIEND FOR YOU HAVE ALL THE APTITUDE OF A SLUG!.

When its your day off doveston your Cover postie takes the other 20%.It complecates things but thats how it works unless you do them all,say 25% a day.

angrypostie wrote:Ok lets hope the rep is in tomorrow :) If im on probabtion am i in serious trouble for it, ie will i lose my job after the week from hell? Thanks for all the support guys, was getting a bit down over the way their walking all over me, but gonna go in tomorrow and not be afraid of them , but it is hard when your new to know what your rights are and how far you can push it.
Which is exactly why you need to be in a union, what a perfect example of how management operate on sitting ducks. I'm not unsympathetic to your plight ,but your first step to protect your interests is an obvious one
Exactly if you have voiced justified and legitimate concerns through the correct Union Channels , regardless of these Manager's view of the CWU , RM can't use determent against you as that's illegal and enforceable in an Industrial Tribunal , not that I'd recommend taking RM on with the siege mentality management they have in charge casually . RM are terrified of EOC claims but you'll need dates ,times etc ,primary evidence , this won't occur to these people for a "rainy day " later . More than one way of skinning a cat

Just keep it under your hat , if you walk out they've won and it's one less problem for them.

As somebody quite rightly said RM play on people's fears , ignorance and insecurities , their bluff has to be called sometimes .

Managers bullying and picking on women , that's big of them ? , never left the playground -well I never ?
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.
