Some branches are RECOMMENDING a "YES" vote, some a "NO" vote. My branch is recommending a "YES" vote, our unit rep's a "NO" voter and
certainly won't be encouraging/supporting the "YES" campaign.

Whatever a branch recommends, doesn't mean the vote is cut and dried in that area.
If you are looking at 70ish branches. 20-25 going No that still means the majority going YES? It will make a big difference how good branches comms are locally!

The national union will pump out propaganda. If local branches simply send out a few posters etc that won't be good enough. There will need to be meetings , home letters etc
Even those branches recommending a "YES" vote, cannot guarantee they'll get it. Even the most cursory glance at what Hayes/Ward claim we've "won", is enough for most postal workers to vomit.

agreed but the vote will be won and lost by the efforts (or lack of them) of branches

Well, I reckon the branches attempting to convince members of the dubious merits of voting "YES", certainly have their work cut out, more so than
branches championing the highly plausible, eminently more sensible, "NO" vote. I'm glad I'm not one of those charged with the task to convince members that what we've been lumbered with, isn't just simply a crock of shite, but the deal of the century. :Very Happy

the vote

I have asked my union rep in Newport west and they recommend NO and most workers are like myself they can shove it. Then bring the heads of Ward and Hayes on a platter.

There are still lots of Branches who have not declared one way or the other. As the lovely Della Smith would say "let’s be having you" :angel

My branch Worcester and Hereford CWU have recommended to vote YES...

Again we all have our own minds to make up, for me personally I will be voting YES.

Thats my choice !! and I have 100% been active on picket duty and will again if necessary.

I will always support the majority result.

VOTING NO FOR A REASON - NOT BECAUSE IVE BEEN TOLD TO

Post by gspot01 »

Anyone on here who is voting YES then its at your own peril. But remember that if this deal goes through you are going to complain about your working conditions, stress, bullying, weight on shoulder, longer hours, crap pay and you are going to have to put up with it.

If we vote NO, we will definetely get rid of the union exec that wants us to accept this deal. This means we can fight on as a strong union once we appoint real men. With the limp wrists that are doing the job just now this company will stampede all over them. And by the way, if you think this deal is bad, wait till they come back for more next year. We need to re-group, change our strategy and go for the throat.

Already at my depot, all the guys that I have told what is going to happen for over a year now and they refused to believe it, continued to work before their start times, took no breaks, used their cars. They are the ones who are now actually coming to me and saying RM wants me to do this but its not my job.

I know i should not, but i cant help laughing right in their faces, telling them exactly how big arseholes they are, because if they had stuck to doing the job properly as i said. There would not be enough hours in the day to do what RM want.

YOUR DESTINY IS IN YOUR HANDS - ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN AND MARK MY WORDS. YOUR FCUKED.

Wouldn't mind reading that stuff.
Witney & Carterton got isolated & then they started their bullying, managers hand-picked for the job!
It seemed to take weeks for CWU headquarters to understand what was going on at the time. About 10 off with stress for an office of 80 staff.
Believe me the horror stories aint made up, i'm not afraid of a row & previous to this had one manager chuck an alt at me & then put his forehead into my face as if to head butt. He was the one who ended up storming out the office while i stayed my ground.

To anyone voting YES on the deal who thinks they have a strong office so will be alright, they can isolate you.
When weaker offices surrounding you are doing working practices you don't want to take on board the pressure will be put on for you to adopt them.

Been informed today that my branch South East No. 3 recommends a "Yes" vote. They should have told me a week ago before I returned my ballot with a big fat "NO". I think it's going to be close. Some good news is the apparent apathy among the possible 'Yes' voters. In my office they think it is a forgone conclusion that the vote will be yes and most of them haven't even bothered to vote. What would happen if say only 25% actually returned their ballot papers? Apart from a massive % of NO votes, would the result stand or would CWUHQ want a re-ballot? Can they do that?
