Obviously managers aren't going to strike, collections are probably happy, mc workers are probably happy, night men are probably happy etc, so why not just ballot the DELIVERERS for action and that way there will probably be a 100% turnout and 100% yes votes.
No there wouldn't.
Not every office is the same, there are plenty of variables.
And there are some who won't strike, or even vote to strike, no matter what the circumstances are.

And that's exactly why the union shouldn't allow this to continue.
If no deal is agreed before Tuesday 3rd, then a strike should be announced, without exception.

But, I have a feeling a deal will be forthcoming.....

This is called negotiation tactics! yes RM and the CWU have taken their time, yes there have been major concessions which we have not seen yet. But let's get serious in our approach. if you were in negotiations and had got concessions and were still trying to get the best available deal then why would you just want to put those concessions at risk by going on the road when you are still in negotiations?
Delivery have the worst job in the whole business yet some of you would rather go out on the street than allow the negotiation team the time to get it right. When the deal is presented THEN delivery have the numbers to reject it so let's be patient and wait.
I know its frustrating but we are talking about complicated negotiations so let them get on with it.

I thought that RM had until 11.59pm tonight,if no agreement was forth coming the Union had to give notice of what they intend to do no later than 9th December.
IE any action had to be before the 9th,otherwise there had to be another ballot

> My view is that because the delivery issue is so broad, it's going to take a 'back seat' until a full review next year so the below can be agreed. > Members are weary so there will be no strike action and I reckon unfortunately the wording of the "It's not agreed till it's all agreed...or else" - has somewhat slipped to "ok, we've done 70%..Let's Ballot on that - who's turn to buy the Mince Pies ?"

Where we were last week, prior to extension - Not sure much can change ?

I think we are still at this point : ( See below)

___________________________________________________________________________-

Legal Protections

An extensive legally binding undertaking from the employer on all the issues put forward by the union has now been secured. These protections will extend beyond 3 years. There are a couple of final points to resolve but it is not anticipated that these will prevent an agreement being reached.

Pay

An improved closed offer from the company is currently under consideration.

Pensions

Negotiations have been concluded on pensions and legally binding commitments on the future of the RMPP alongside additional improvements to the Defined Contribution Scheme which have been secured. The company has accepted that members will be balloted on a pensions agreement separately.

Industrial stability, new culture and agenda for growth

A section on industrial stability which strengthens the existing IR Framework with new mediation procedures is in the process of being finalised. The agreement will not include any commitment to binding arbitration or a no strike deal. The new approach will also offer CWU unprecedented access to business structures and provide the opportunity for real influence on the future direction of the company.

Delivery workload issues

Whilst some progress has been made there are still difficult areas to resolve and a fresh approach is being considered.

Future parcels and letter strategy

Drafts have been exchanged and it looks likely that there will be no issues preventing an agreement on future strategy.

Company charter

The company has accepted the principle of a charter setting out the values on how Royal Mail Group will operate in the future. Drafts have been exchanged and it does not look like there will be any issues preventing a final agreement being reached.

the posties on the street are getting hammered all over the country now and the tracked items have got completely out of hand on the driving side of things as well

personally I would give up a pay rise if job and finish was restored instead :thumbup

Job & Finish died a long time ago, gone are those days - RM make a lot of money from absorption, every minute is timed/ measured, squeezed and noted and with the 'Future strategy' being unveiled to us next year via many a WCM workshop methods and increased technology - RM will say the job will become easier in terms of overweights, tracked etc etc etc

Watch this space.
