Re: No confidence in CWU negotiating team
The sheer stupidy of these so called Union Members bitching like a bunch of school girls is quite funny and shows a lack of common sense Wait until you see the agreement before slagging the union off I bet you won't moan if the agreement gets us what we want plus any monies back dated stop moaning and get a grip of the situation it's pathetic

As a non union member you wont be wanting any of the benefits we gain from the deal then will you?bustedflush wrote:I was given a union form by our rep 9 months ago, and still haven't filled it in after working RM for a year on 6-month contracts. I'm glad I haven't. This BS is just pandering to RM's delaying tactics to keep the matter going until after Christmas. There goes your backdated pay rise before the festive season. The 'strike breakers bonus' of 300 has been dropped as it could be illegal and the CWU lawyers were going to challenge it. Instead it has been added to the 3-year 8.6% deal to make it nearer 10%. This means you get it 'forever' as opposed to once, if you follow. The rest is about long-term stuff, but in a declining letter market and competitive parcel market, how can they all see 18 months ahead let alone 3 or more years?
WE LOVE PARCELS! pffftttt

Personally, I shall sit back and wait until we actually see the end result, what ever that maybe!

I think it is pretty obvious the Management and top management look at this site, and all they see is union bashing, its no wonder there is no agreement, all they have to do is sit back and wait until after Christmas and then we have no bargaining tool and we will get less than whats on offer now

Re: No confidence in CWU negotiating team
So RM will see a minor level of criticism, cynicism and some Union bashing... So what?
That compared to the level of frustration, anger and real real issues in Delivery will more than balance things or even tilt things in our favour: they cannot then turn round and say that there are no issues in delivery.
The Union themselves will not give themselves 10/10, wiil they?

Re: No confidence in CWU negotiating team
Chrisj,
I cannot recall anyone,(and anyone is anyone) saying there was no issues in delivery apart from the employer. As previously mentioned there was a lack of IR disagreements nationally in delivery units or they where ignored by the employer. There also was minimal ballot requests by most delivery units,(I think on one hand I can count on offices in which took legal IA in the last 3 years).
In terms of bullying,(in watching some of the posts on this forum), is rife, there was a lack of bullying forms nationally. This was probably down to no reps within the unit or,once again, the employer ignored them. However I was surprised at the lack of forms in certain parts of the country. The forum moderators even advised on this forum in some instances to file a bullying form in. In fact even ET's where virtually non-existent.
I believe that is is impossible to "remote control" units from a distance. There is a process,(in which I believe are out of date). However if those processes are not used how are we to know if there are any issues? There is no blame game amongst us as members here. Too easy. It is how we fix it.That meaning ALL OF US.

Its also not beyond the realms of possibility that some of the Union bashers are sock puppets of rogue pro-Royal Mail, anti Union managers and postmen. Its been done before in Canada, the UK and US and no doubt it will happen again. The drive by posters of both colours are the most suspect ones.
I therefore base my judgement not on the "bashing" but their reputation on the site, and the content of their posts. One things in fairly easy to judge, comments that consist only of - The Union* Royal Mail* My colleagues (delete as appropriate) are crap, but do not explain why, are from people who have no desire to debate like adults and should be dismissed and treated as the children they seem to aspire to be.

Or on the other hand perhaps most the people still backing the union, have never done anything bar be a postie.
Therefore they've never been a member of another union so have nothing to base their opinion on?
I've been a postie since 1990 and in the union the same amount of time yet even i think the pec are doing what they think we want rather than listening to what we actually want.
2010 and seemingly now they come back with a nice pay increase and just pay lip service to the problems on delivery because it's easier to get the pay rise.

Yes,I know who they are and it is important that some of our posters correct them and the answers,(and facts) are posted. That way unit reps looking on this brilliant forum can educate others. As they say..."little acorns grow".
More importantly I think that others should not be frightened to post their opinions on here. That is the trouble with the employer at present. Their unit managers are frightened to speak out. Let us not go the same way?

Re: No confidence in CWU negotiating team
Indeed.
I think it is everyone's responsibility to question everything that both the Union and Royal Mail do. However, questioning is different to bashing and I firmly believe that the most sycophantic of RM and CWU posters, and the most rabid bashers of both give exactly the same level of insight and information to any debate - the √0
Opinions are welcome most definitely, more so if they are constructive as DRB intimates.

Re: No confidence in CWU negotiating team
I think if every union member,(of every trade union) was given a survey on what they want from their trade union, some would be surprised that "striking" would not be be top of the list. The normal member wants big issues resolved, that is what is important. This may take the form of unfair workloads and bullying, to something that may not be important to a lot of IR reps,(such as a tea vending machine).Or on the other hand perhaps most the people still backing the union, have never done anything bar be a postie.
Therefore they've never been a member of another union so have nothing to base their opinion on?

Would they want them negotiated without losing pay? Absolutely. I think some on here need to be honest. If a deal was produced in which had sparks coming out of it's arse..they still would not be happy. However it is a trade unions job,in essence to first provide meaningful employment. Wrong?

Re: No confidence in CWU negotiating team
So let's look at where we are at:
Just a couple of weeks ago (approx.) Rm were offering 3 years protection, now they are offering 5 years.
I think that was worth a few weeks wait.
Even if the union gain nothing more, they have done their job.
Do you really think we are going to get every thing we want?
I would like a 50% pay rise, 28 weeks holiday a year and a pension matching Moya's!
Instead it looks like a pay rise of around 2.8%, 5 years protection, no outsourcing.
Still looks like a good deal to me, if that is how it turns out.
I would also like to see postman protected.
