you either have posties getting moved of their duties on the whim of the manager.... .
But it's not at the whim of a manager.
The lapsing opportunities are jointly identified.
The duty/duties was/were selected before the resign. The postie who signed for it knew at the time it was potentially going to be used as a lapsing duty.
Where does the whim of a manager come into it?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You're right Hooty, but in the meetings held with the unit rep if the suggestion is that lapsed duties should be the closest to the office in order that both vehicle duties and HCTs can take their share it's difficult if not impossible to offer a viable alternative that doesn't cost more.
If the rep plus the members in the office are prepared to stand there ground dvbuk it is then not about offering a viable alternative to make savings, its about holding on to seniority and making sure our people don't get moved from pillar to post without having a say in the matter.
Seniority really doesn't come into Hooty. The closest and therefore easiest to lapse may or may not be duties held by senior posties and may even be vacant duties at times or held by part timers.

Some of our duties have 15-20 minutes travelling time just to get to them.
Where would the sense be in sending a dozen vans on a 30 minute round trip to do 20 minutes lapsing.
As usual with this company postie/rep A thinks that what happens in his back garden is what happens up and down the country.
If we were to rotate the lapsing shifts through the full office of duties just to suit duty holders the members would have a fit.
What happens if your reserves are covering rural duties,do you lapse those?

The logic would say that you would lapse Rurals.. No matter what.
The logic would also say that you cannot lapse Rurals.. because it would not work.
So, what happens... All the lapsing is taken by the Towns.

Bugger
No, logic dictates that town rounds are lapsed but everyone takes it, rurals included, as happens in my office. Though logic doesn't always come into it, as one time, our absorption consisted of taking ONE packet each, which meant every postie going off route to deliver one parcel. Genius.

Maybe one or two should consider what a union without members looks like.
I would rather have the kind of members you find on here who might moan a bit and may have unrealistic expectations but at least care enough to moan and have expectations in the first place.
Strike during Xmas pressure? Can't see that happening as the CWU isn't so stupid as to walk into that particular trap. Looks like the moment's well and truly passed for this year..
why isn't billy hayes on this forum with an explanation!!! if he doesn't give one i will personally be writing a letter to the CWU HQ voicing my disappointment and frustration over this entire shenanigan of a deal!!!
We must strike and take the upper hand whether its official or not!!
Things need to change now is the time hit them where it hurts. GET MOYA OUT!!
