As for conduct code for PDA failure they can get stuffed on that one, equipment failure is NOT a postman's responsibility, the fact that a P739 has been left should be sufficient proof on its own that a delivery was attempted.

Hi I am trying to find out where I stand on a PDA issue, just over a week ago I had to deliver a Olympic tracked item, I went to the address and I believed I scanned the item, the customer was not in and i left a p739and returned the item later as a form left, later in the week I was told I hadn't scanned the item, I had previously been having PDA issues and I have video's the PDA behaving incorrectly, I had reported this and was told by a line manager this happens and had to accept the glitches, now however I am facing a conduct code issue of misconduct, I have had a fact finding interview and now a formal interview where i brought in the area rep, we explained I have 4 pieces of video evidence collated over the last couple of months and text messages to a line manager regarding faulty PDA on collection to which the evidence was ignored on the formal notes I received today ! If anyone can advise me of my best course of action as I refused to sign the formal notes. Many thanks Paul

The principal would be the same as for a collection, the OPG is not responsible for equipment failure

A PDA is the same as a mobile phone . Left unlocked and you put it in your pouch, you can sometimes hear it clicking ? That is what is happening .

Message to all who use a PDA ! Press options in bottom left of screen . Then Device lock. Hey presto .Still scans aswell.

Too damn bulky to use by walkers - either of P&L or bug standard. And today, it was raining heavily... Even if one puts it in the bag, it can still get wet and in the pocket of the new-designed trousers is just a pain.

Good point about locking the damn thing - Yes, Cancel, Options, Device Lock - however, you can still hear it clicking or clucking

We need new PDAs that are smaller and lighters. Too many bloody functions on the PDA for walkers! We just dont have the time to fiddle about when one has a bundle and possibly a bag (LWT). And as for writing a P739 as well as handling the PDA - it is a pain!
