The amount of information crammed into us over the five days really needed the isolation and great dedicated facilities that they provided. I can't imagine doing such an intensive course anywhere else, or in any other format...

That's the point though Demon...it wouldn't need to be a crammed 5 day intensive course if it was done locally.
It could be on going and therefore more relevant and up to date if it was day release and more local.
It's just an alternative though,i am not advocating closing down Alvescot but the reality is it has to meet the needs of the union AND it has to be financially viable.

Being a sub rep do I get any sort of training?, the rep has told me nothing and I'm getting staff at work constantly asking me questions that I don't know the answers to

When you say sub rep does that mean you deputise your actual rep when he is on leave etc.If that is the case then you should go on the Postal Agreements and Procedures course.Speak to you branch secretary,your rep is talking cobblers.

Yep I deputise when hes on leave. I've just started attending meetings with the Rep and DOM so I can see how things work. Though its no good seeing how things work if I don't know whats what because I have'nt had the training

If members keep on asking you questions and you can't answer them then tell your members to go to the actual rep.Maybe the members think he /she is not approachable or he/she gets angry to quickly. ALL I SAY IS GET ON TO THE AGREEMENTS COURSE ASAP ASK YOU BRANCH FOR MORE INFO.
