At my place,we've been on the vans for bout 3 months.
At times the place is a mess, cut offs galore.
Apart from possibly tuesdays and even then it would be very tight, summer lapsing aint gonna happen.
We can't have NO MORE cuts,it just wont work.
Super dooper sorting machines!!! Might make a bit of a difference but not much.

We're avin a f***ing ball is SE London :dance :dance

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

So what do these people actually gain by finishing early? More spare time at home to do what?

I'd rather take it steady and do it to time so that I don't fall asleep in the afternoon and miss all the banter on here. Sad ain't I, maybe, but not as sad as him.

You see comrades, whilst we have job and knock the problem will always exist. The CWU should campaign for the removal of it. In the long run it will cost jobs, aid the argument for summer lapsing and covering sick for nowt.
This morning the mech mail arrived at 4.50am. it normally aids the nitwits who start at 4am by arriving at 4-4.10. At least half the office were standing around for the best part of an hour. Will they learn, i doubt it. Monday they will still be in at 4am helping the people we're fighting against.

Many people like job and finish but it does have the problem that it encourages sloppy delivery.

As an alternative, is it possible to prep' first and second class early in the morning, go out on delivery and then on return to the office to sort and prep' the next days Mailsort?
That way, we are out on the streets earlier - which would please the public - and the 'finish' would be after sorting and prep'ing mailsort in the office.

I'm just trying to find an alternative, it's fine having demands but unless there is an alternative then you have to live with it.

well done mate, i am a rep, but i know that we need to have some change here.

Quite happy to look at alternative attitudes to how things can be done/improved.

But not when i am expected to do it all for free. I can understand that there is some time in my working day that could be filled up by doing some more, but certainly not as much as this management want me to do.

They are trying to impose major change on us, this is what we are fighting, not change. I would say that 90% of posties can accept there is maybe an hour or hour and a half that we could make up. But the changes they are asking for are ridiculous to the extreme and im sorry to say shout at me.......... your gettin it right up you.

I am all for trying to work this out and from what i have been listening to at meetings, so are the CWU.

The people who are being pig headed here are the management and need to realise that we are not robots, but people who have financial needs, not just for us but for our families. Imagine if they get away with their plans on conditioned hours, we will be lucky to ever see our families other than a monday and tues.

All for tryin new ideas, but it must come from both sides, and the two numbnuts at the top of the tree are not interested, they both have that much personal money that right now they are just playing with thousands of peoples lives and thinking stuff it, if we get beaten then we will move on to the next company. This is the biggest problem we have, we all do our jobs every day, most of us because we love it and enjoy actually doing things to help our customers.

The numbnuts only see it as more money in the bank, they are totally detached from the life that we have, they could not last one day on a take home pay of £250, but expect us not only to do it but also wait for the sledgehammer coming down and cutting that down by 25% then giving us 40%more work to do.
