Ok u can take this a boast or not i dont give a shite wot u think madsort... Ive worked in most of the MC's jobs from Bookroom. Security. MECH/LSM/MTT/CFC. PPI. SORTING /OPS/IPS. DIVS. MECH BAG OPENING. MAN/BAG OPENING. PACKETS.. INTERNAL MAIL..

So to do some of thoes jobs, (COVERED BY EX PHG's) you are much more than just a Unskilled worker... So need to be paid more as used to be!!

Now we dont get jack shite for it... And in all the times RM said "WE ARE IN PROFIT, BY £ BLAH BLAH BLAH!!" They went on holiday with our pensions payments!! They now ask us to lose jobs/hrs/duties. and rights...... I say NO TO THIS .. THE CWU SAY NO TO THIS.... AND WHEN A BIG YES VOTE COMES IN YOU WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENDS NEXT!!! YOUR SCARE MONGERING DONT SCARE ME MATE SO AS ITS A OPEN FORUM I WILL ONLY TELL YOU IN MY OPINION.... "YOU TALK ALOAD OF BOLLOCKS MADSORTER."

Madsorter's comments could certainly apply to my office, which is not a mail centre, but an RDC.

Our management are absolutely incapable of tackling under-performing staff. Not a surprise to me, as some of the managers were lazy sods when they wore the same blue shirt I used to wear with pride. You can see their logic, though. What can be easier than standing around for long periods, whilst your conscientious colleagues do the bulk of the work ? Oh, I know... become a manager, and get paid more than them, whilst watching them do ALL the work

Those friggin Have Your Say surveys are a total joke, a complete waste of time. Those of us that care about the job make comments every time about the same issues, and nothing gets done. The last one we did in April (we've got to do them every 6 months now, cos the scores were so crap last time), the percentage saying they 'strongly agree' with the statement 'my manager deals effectively with those who do not perform well' was only 15% What does that tell senior management ? It tells me that 85% of the office think the management aren't tackling the lazy people !!!

In fact, the score on every question was LOWER or the same as last time, i.e. people say our office is worse than 6 months ago. Come on Leighton or Crozier - if you or your minions read these boards, then when you start wielding the axe on jobs, look at all these useless managers first ! Almost all organisations are too top-heavy with unneccesary managers, so don't attack the guys on delivery, get it sorted !

Re Easy offices.

There's an office i share with that have it easy,and i've heard of other offices ect that are the same,you may be unlucky to get a 3 hr walk it's that easy.
But as you know it aint like that everywhere,if there's savings to be made at certain places,then fair enough,we've all had a good run.

But it's the offices where the goodwill gets the job done where it's a pisser with all these cuts.
I'm on the vans along with the others,and we've shown the job up for what it's worth.

Even if some are underworked... as i said before.. SOME are lazy but that is a issue for slime.screws to deal with... never been to a 'meeting' in my life but i can see YOU are the type of GOB that thinks he is soooooooo hard done by, big deal they took away the phg's boohoo, i was one and did every job in the mail centre and wouldnt call any of them 'skilled' mate, skilled generally means you bring a qualification or some experience into a field that needs it.

THE MAIN POINT IM BRINGING UP HERE IS WE ARE NOT IN THE POSITION SOME OF YOU THINK WE ARE!!! We are all disposable staff, nothing you do cant be done by the next guy. Royal Mail now has SERIOUS competition with very very ambitious plans to wipe us out (i got a good big mouthed tnt source) . Someone pointed out that you are mainly delivery staff on here, well then a lot of delivery staff are oblivious to the explosion of DSA mail, overheard 2 postys talking the other day saying its all bullshit that we are losing money cos they still taking out full mailbags as usual, yeah but them mailbags are now worth CONSIDERABLY less than before with the price we get paid for delivering DSA mail, the volumes of which are going through the roof as more and more businesses realise they are better off using it, and they are right.

Lets get down to the bottom line right....... the staff in royal mail must have the most hatred ever towards their employer ive ever known!!! I remember once takin a wage cut for a boss because he was struggling and we wanted to try and keep the business going, wheres that sort of attitude among RM staff? Not literally of course i dont expect anyone to take a wage cut, but im talking about loyalty and the big picture, not just a fast buck of an extra few quid a week or 'we are all out' . Some people dont see how we can go from one state of finance to another in short time, well as ive mentioned DSA volumes have gone through the roof in as little as one year, thats one hell of a loss of money for handling the very same amount of mail as the year before.

Phantom you mentioned that MC are gonna be hit and how gutted i will be with extra workload yeah? Not a chance mate, i turn up at a certain time and i go home at a certain time, what can happen in those 8 hours? The worst thing in the world that can happen is they put me on the facing machine for a solid shift, big deal

As for your TNT source,i've had an e-mail from their head office and they are years away from ORANGE POSTIES.
Interested to know what MC you work at (it's a big place no doubt so you can tell us,you won't be found out)
And as for the loyalty and big picture speech how long you been in the job mate?
And from making money,to losing money to making money(When Al and Ad came in)to now losing money, get a grip mate where you been,never heard of cooking the books!
