CWU reaffirm opposition to second referendum

Wait until you hear about Benjamin Netanyahu, Mohammed bin Salman, and some American guy called Donald Trump.
The Left Wing's Princes of Darkness used as a riposte to Corbyn's dalliances with Hamas, Hezbollah and the IRA?
Israel, Saudi and the US though. Same old same old.
Never China, Russia, Iraq, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, etc etc.
Rather like Uncle Jezza, straight out of the Students Yearbook 1970.

Ah, the IRA. Wait until you hear about the DUP, etc. As for the other nations you cite, well, Corbyn's 51 EDM condemnations of Iran are 7th highest in parliamentary history, I believe for Russia it’s a similar story (interestingly Corbyn was protesting Putin back at a time when the West was happily blowing smoke up his backside, before he started getting in the way of its meddling in the Middle East and became number one baddie).

I note you’ve been quite happy to see the conversation shift from Brexit, which was going as badly for you on here as it is in real life. You can always get the topic back on track by telling us what Brexit means to you and how as a nation we’d reach your vision for it, but increasingly one suspects like most Brexiters you haven’t actually a clue.

Problem with your perspective is anyone left of May is a Communist and will double down on tax evasion and those to the right like bojo and hunt are the saviours of the nation
And the problem with your perspective is that it's presumptive and wrong. Show me where I've ever advocated voting for anything other than Labour (until Corbyn was made leader anyway)
{Ask Baldrick and he'll search posts going back years}
I don't know if you have ever advocated voting Labour. Maybe you liked Blair, but you didn't think much of the last two leaders of the Labour Party, Gordon Brown or Ed Milliband.

So you've spent more time on a Sunday actually researching my old posts but that's the best you can come up with?
So I wasn't over-impressed with those two as leaders but little did I realise the what depths the following "leader" would plumb. How lucky we were back then.
Still, now you've actually taken the time to do all that perhaps you can point me to the post where I've advocated voting Tory, Lib-Dem, SNP, BNP etc etc which was the original point.
Can't find any? So more wasted time and effort on your part Balds.
I note you’ve been quite happy to see the conversation shift from Brexit, which was going as badly for you on here as it is in real life.
Was it? It's all just shooting the breeze in a meandering thread on a work forum. No-one important's keeping score or taking notes.

postslippete wrote:But what really annoys me are those who are actively seeking to reverse the decision by one way or another because they don't agree with it using every excuse under the sun to try and stall or prevent it from happening. But then the decision to Brexit remains in the hands of Westminster and the majority of MPs clearly want us to remain. Just imagine how good it then feels for parliament to then tell all the little people that voted - "sorry your vote doesn't count".
Sorry, still don’t get this argument. The only option for leaving put before parliament was May’s withdrawal agreement and leave supporting MPs rejected it in no uncertain terms. Why should folk who don’t believe in Brexit have got it over the line when the politicians who want Brexit rejected the only realistic option for us getting out by March?

I know loads of folk who voted remain that’d support a soft Brexit but we’re being asked to swallow an increasingly hard and potentially ruinous version of it, personally I’m not prepared to gamble with peoples’ jobs and homes and health (which is basically what even Johnson and Hunt admit they’d be doing with a no deal Brexit) and I’m glad most MPs have the sense to not want to do that either.

Because Teresa Mays withdrawal agreement was absolute b*llo*cks that's why,she was that desperate to please remainers she was even advocating another referendum. What happened to no deal is better than a bad deal?? Like I said we keep going round in circles because we won't take that leap of faith. So all we hear about are lots of scaremongering you said about jobs, health and homes. Pessimistic or what?? How do you know that in the long run we might actually be better off?

Nicely swerved again, no wonder you miss the Blair years.

Baffled by this idea May was too keen on placating remainers - she spent years calling us citizens of nowhere and so on. She ditched the tub thumping rhetoric when it became apparent no deal was a non starter for any government remotely concerned with the economic well being of its citizens (let’s not forget the uncertainty around Brexit’s already cost thousands of jobs - over 200,000 according to some estimates - and choked off investment since 2016).

In what way do you think we’d be better off under WTO terms after a no deal exit, postslippete?

The problem with claiming that Brexit has lost 200,000 jobs is that it sets you up for the question then why when Brexit was not on the cards and we were benefitting from EU membership and ts wonderful frictionless trade did manufacturing jobs decline 600,000 in the last decade.

Got my ballot paper through for PEC nominies wanting to get voted in again. It's now in the bin. None of them (and that includes you Martin Walsh) are getting my vote while they support a party who's leader is a racsist and a brexiteer to boot. Christ its akin to supporting Jonhsons tory party. There are a lot of good Labour Mp's but until they show some balls and get rid of Corbyn and his cronies and the unions incuding the Unite leader and our own union leaders start to see the light then i wont be wasting my time or paying any subs to the political funding.

I'm not sure that I'll be able to convince a pessimist that the glass is half full when they are convinced its already half empty, but this article is worth reading..

I too yearn for the days when Labour was a genuinely anti-racist party, run by good men and women like Gordon ‘British jobs for British workers’ Brown, Ed ‘controls on immigration mugs’ Miliband, Margaret ‘homes for indigenous Brits not migrants’ Hodge, David ‘schools swamped with immigrants’ Blunkett, Phil ‘make the White folks angry’ Woolas, and Alastair ‘depicted the Jewish Tory leader Michael Howard as Fagin and a pig’ Campbell.

Halcyon days indeed.

When were these halcyon days ? was it when Barbera Castle said regarding the EU "What kind of internationalism says henceforth we must give priority to a Frenchman over an Indian,A German over an Australian,an Italian over a Malaysian, this isn't the language of Internationalism it is Euro jingoism"

Oh I’m very familiar with the left wing case against the EU, it’s quite compelling, and also a pipe dream - if you think the majority of folk who voted Brexit want more brown people in the country and give even the tiniest f**k about internationalism then for starters I need to introduce you to the 160,000 Tory party members, the candidates said members will be choosing between for PM, and Nigel ‘breaking point’ Farage.

Well I think everyone would hope that we might actually be better off. But many doubt it. Time will tell.
It's all very well to take a leap of faith - if you have faith. But I wouldn't take a leap of faith over a cliff edge without knowing how it will work out - which is probably badly.

Have you turned into Sigmund Freud now? Have you also heard the one about the pot calling the kettle black?

Anyway, I don't wish to resort to all this, partly because its pointless and also because its not constructive. What is constructive? Well, what you were saying about us being in sh*t street and the fact that we are in a political mess I will completely agree with.

I believe that our politicians have made the situation for us to leave Europe much worse - would you agree with that? Just a yes or no would suffice

The biggest stumbling block I've seen on this forum are that those who voted remain refuse to accept the referendum result. And that vote was that we should leave. Now do you think that we should leave even if its a soft Brexit like 26134 might be prepared to swallow? whatever that may be? Again just a yes or no would suffice. You know what I think about this and I'm sorry that I could possibly be suffering from "confirmation bias" that I didn't really give you the chance to say what you think.

If yes, what conditions do you think would make you happy that Britain should leave? Just remember that when the public last had a direct say in Europe which was way back in 1975 it was when we thought it was purely a trading arrangement; whereas now its a fully fledged political union with its own legs.

If no, then what you are really advocating is another vote. Parliament just cannot null and void our original vote because thats not how democracy works and if they did our country would resemble something of a dictatorship. So another vote, and whats its going to achieve? If it was a close run thing 3 years ago do you really think that the public has really changed its mind in such a short space of time? Yes, I'm sick and tired of hearing about Brexit as much as the next geezer, but I still think we are better off out the EU than in, just as you think we are better off in the EU than out of it. So imagine if the second vote turned up 52% remain 48% leave, do you think that we should actually do what Farage once said "well its not best of 3!"
