I don't think common sense comes into this anymore, I think were talking internal politics here to the highest level.
Agreed. The time has come for not only the general public, but our MP's and MSP's to take more than a passing interest in our situation.

have had enough of all the harassment and bully tactics been used by senior management.
they are also trying to break the union - the situation in Dundee proves this.
we all need to find out how many areas this is going on - UNITY IS WHAT IS NEEDED AND GOOD COMMUNICATION.
I disagree with a national strike. Why cannot all offices ballot individually for IA. Then we can have strike action at different offices across the UK at different times. How long will RM fly their super hero managers across the country to provide a service to the community and at what cost. We may not get a pay rise but we sure as hell can waste any bonusses for senior management by using up the profits. A national strike and no managers will try to deliver any mail and the public will point their finger at us whereas local IA will force RM to try and provide a service.

While i agree with your tactics and reasoning too many office will not so much as sneeze without backing from H/Q after the last debacle we all had in October 2007!. WE ALL SHOULD STAND TOGETHER AS ONE AND MAKE H/Q YIELD TOO OUR DEMANDS FOR ACTION AND END THIS PHONY WAR!. LETS ALL DECLARE WAR NOW AND SEE IT THROUGH TILL THE BITTER END THIS TIME.
I honestly dont know how many offices are around the UK but even fifty offices balloting for IA would stretch RM and they would have to try whilst a national strike means that they dont. A national strike means that all the pressure is on us instead of them and that isnt the best way forward. We need to make RM send managers all over the country every day. They will do this for a few days and then they will surrender cause they cannot afford to do this indefinitely.
We need to think tactics rather than strength just now. The time will come for strength in the future.

we must use the media more.our local paper has a lot of influence in Dundee.and a couple of letters in it made the public sit up and complain. we must continue to do this and extend it to radio stations and the bbc. also our MP resigned a post over the planned part-privatisation of RM,so we should get him on board. his name is Jim Mcgovern. i have sent him an email and hope he helps us in our struggle

Probably!! I agree with much of that said in the previous postings, but surely we need better communication from the CWU.
As it is every office seems to have been hung out to dry and fend for themselves as RM use increasingly bully-boy tactics. Inevitably, weaker non-unionised offices are going to suffer. Personally, I don't see how much longer this can go on and many people are getting increasingly frustrated. The farce at Dundee West shows that even when their changes are shown not to work, they won't back down. This is all politically motivated, and shows that any service to the general public takes second place. I do hope that some of the residents in Dundee know that some of their parcels and packets have been sitting undelivered at DDW for up to 4 weeks through no fault of the posties there.

Thats fine but smaller offices taking IA is not going to have any effect, when are some of the large offices going to get on board?
All offices are having an effect. When they have to draft in 50-60 managers at weekends, fly them up from London then in their own way they are having an effect. If we went national then RM would stop trying to get offices covered with deliveries or sorting mail. They would simply point their finger at the CWU and accuse them of causing unrest. At the moment RM feel compelled to use managers where they can to try and get some service to the public and it is costing them.

DDW have had their manager coming out and admitting the duties are unworkable and the press need to know this as well as a visit from the press or an MP to the D.O.

But that is my point Dundeepostie, You havent went on strike, you have merely worked your contracted hours and the sh*t is piling up. One visit from an MP or the press will cause more problems for the senior management who cannot be bothered checking Dundee West out themselves.
