Yes it is amazing that some do not see the glaring truth hmmm now who does that remind me of? The biggest threat the Conservatives have faced in the last 30 years! :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle The glaring truth is there for you to see jet, Corbyn will not be a threat if he lives to be 130 years old.

As far as the general populous are concerned Corbyn cares more for the ordinary un-working Britain and the odd billion economic migrants. Consequently we are doomed to a few more years of Tory governments.

Jezza hasn't won yet but it does seem a likely outcome on paper, Smith does not come across well as an orator. Why on earth the unions are supporting Corbyn is beyond me. What good is having influence with a labour party that will never be back in power in the foreseeable future? Great they will reverse anti union legislation, put back the 50p tax, reinstate benefits etc etc etc. You could only do that if you gained power and that just isn't going to happen under the present circumstances. I think Theresa is biding her time to see what the leadership election brings and if it's a split decision she'll call an election next year knowing that labour voters are divided and that will give her an increased majority in parliament.

Yet another good day for democracy. Michael Fosters legal challenge to overturn the NEC's decision to allow the incumbent leader to be on the ballot, today failed.
He'll be wanting the 1/4 of a million he donated to the Labour Party back then

Of course, being one of the UK's (250,000) jews, Mr. Fosters real concern wasn't the legal intracacies of the Labour Party constitution - it was Jeremy Corbyns stance on Israel. What this has to do with the people of the UK is beyond me to be honest. Here is Mr.Foster expressing his views.

Apparently Jewish donors make up 1/3 of the Labour Party's overall donations. I hope this isn't on the pretext that the UK Labour Party supports Benjamin Netanyahu's recent war crimes in Gaza.

There has to be a strong argument here for the state funding of political parties. Private funding lays the whole system wide open to corruption and vested interests buying power and influence.

Still - those vested interests lost the day today.

edit. before anyone jumps in, it doesn't make me an anti-semite because I have dared to mention Jews in a post. Nor, if I am able to back up my assertions, would it make me an anti-semite if I were to mention disproportionate aggression and violence meted out and perpetrated by Israel, one of the largest miltary powers in the world, upon Palestine. (Israel has the 3rd largest military spending per head in the world ).

They used to call for that back in the heady 1970s too, but back then idealism still triumphed over harsh reality, and people (well, some people) still believed that handing over large sums of public money to unaccountable political parties would be for the good of democracy and not wasted on anything and everything "the party" wished to waste it on.
Even if the electorate was naïve enough to still go for such tosh, duck houses and moat clearances would have long-since put paid to any such ideas.
Dear old jet, no wonder you hold Corbyn in such awe...

Only because Jezza hasn't got a moat or a duck house but he does seem to have a penchant for foreign ladies.

That a British male politician has a penchant for women at all should be a cause for celebration I'd say - foreign or not.

Getting back to the funding issue, and digging a little deeper, it turns out that “In the run-up to last May’s General Election, the Jewish community donated almost one-third of the £9.7 million that Labour received from private donors " - this in spite of the fact that the jewish community makes up less than 0.5% of the UK population.

Makes you wonder who the Labour Party is for doesn't it ? That is, whose interests is it representing ? I'm not sure its known the answer to that itself for the last 35 years.

I sincerely hope that wasn't a reference to homophobia jet suggesting male politicians are bum huggers :chuckle

No doubt if Jezza does get in he will refuse all donations from Jewish individuals and organisations in the future :cuppa

Well we'll never know what the labour party is like in government will we?

Maybe I'm a bit slow but I've only just noticed the initials of Jezza is JC now is that why he has such a following and his attitude towards jewish people I wonder. Now I'm getting fixated because every time I see a picture of him or he's on the tv I'm seeing a halo round his head

I dunno - can an atheist be Jewish ?

One things for sure - the 251,417 that voted Jeremy Corbyn in last year can't all have been Jewish. Thats more than the total amount of jews in the UK.

Lets be clear - jews (whatever exactly constitutes a "jew") have produced some of the greatest people of recent history, for which we should all be thankful.
But an immensely wealthy clique effectively directing party policy toward minority goals is not what the Labour Party is all about. The Conservative Party, yes of course. But not the Labour Party.
And if this has been thwarted by Jeremy Corbyn - and thats the reason some of the party's top private (jewish) donors have withdrawn their support - then this, yet again in my view, is something for which Jeremy Corbyn should be applauded.

Don't let the mass media tell you otherwise. Corbyn is for the common man and woman - not the oligarchs.
