Thanks mate. Unfortunately the managers do it a lot at the MC, especially to those who have physical and mental health issues.
As soon as I moved to the MC I spotted it a mile away, it’s sickening. I’ve witnessed a grown man wetting himself because our manager told him he couldn’t go to the toilet. Another guy was told he couldn’t drink any water, he was then unable to take his medication and ended being unwell. The manager bullies these two colleagues every night. He's laughed at their hair cuts and their appearance, he deliberately singles them out to ridicule them and to use them when making “jokes”
I’m not sure why but most people don’t even blink an eye when it’s happening.
Why not go to rep or area rep something will be done about it but it is for them to do it you are but a witness you could help them by giving numbers of rep or area rep are the in the union? if not why are they agency or new contract these things make a difference!
Why does it make a difference if they are agency or new contract no-one in any walk of life should be treated like this. absolute disgrace mc should have walked out in unison at appalling behaviour from manager..
Probably not in union how can they convey their suffering if no one to talk to and how can a union rep know but if they are not in a union where do they stand in any case remember a union is only as good as it's members for that is what a union is!

Ok then is all the mc turning a blind eye to what is going on is there no members in the union who could tell a rep what is going on. also think union would help out if even they are not members.. if you personally saw what was going on would your 1st question be are you in the union???

Neither would I but don't shoot the messenger it is good we have a place to debate this but it is shocking in this day and age how managers get away with treating our fellow workers and it is not just a sad indictment of Royal Mail but society in general that this is allowed never mind tolerated!

I’ve spoken to a couple of union reps and told them what’s been happening. They told me to get the two guys in question to come and speak to them and they’ll help them out. The two guys who are being treated badly are absolutely terrified of the managers and are reluctant to speak out. Before I went off sick I stood up to the manager and questioned his behaviour during our team briefing. It didn’t go down very well and since then I’ve had a lot of backlash from the manager himself, the shift manager and a few other managers. 3 union reps at the MC are also related to managers and a few of my colleagues are reluctant to speak out because of this.
I spoke to my colleague who’s a postie at a local DO. He’s been employed by RM for 19 years and he’s never heard anything like it before. He actually went up to the MC to collect LAT parcels and witnessed the managers behaviour for himself. He’s now spoken to an area rep and his DOM about it.
Yesterday I called the area Rep and told him what’s been going on and that I’m concerned for colleagues who can’t speak out for themselves. He said he’s going to visit the MC and speak to the two guys.
I can’t believe in this day & age that human beings are being treated this way.

I’m due back to work tomorrow. OH assist said I’ve to do an early shift for 4 weeks. I know after the 4 weeks though that they’ll try and move me back to my 10pm finishes. If this happens I’ve to be referred back to OH and I’ve been advised to put in a grievance. ACAS told me that my employer has a legal dutie to make reasonable adjustments for someone who is disabled under the equality act 2010. If RM fail to make reasonable adjustments, it’s discrimination. RM have repeatedly told me that a change of hours/shift pattern is not a reasonable adjustment, however ACAS, Equality and human rights Commission, OH & my GP have all said that changing someone’s shift pattern is a reasonable adjustment.
I’ll go back to work tomorrow and see how things go.

Good Luck and write everything down . this comes in handy if you need to have a conversation with your Rep.

Lots of very good responses and I would like to add my support. I find it very sad that we have such appallingly bad people in our business treating you and others without any compassion. There was a saying in a company i used to work for "Treat others how you would like to be treated" I challenge your manager to apply this to the way he has treated you in this case. It sounds like you are moving forward with the grievance etc and hopefully the union will step up and be with you every step of the way. If you do still feel you aren't satisfied with the outcome I recommend CAB as they have employment law experts who can give advice and will in certain cases represent you at ET (if it comes to that). Good luck
