Oh, so you don't think it's the union's job to test walks that need 6-10 hrs overtime a week to complete? You work to time, you get taken off it. Like I said, I thought it was part of their job description to even walks out that were stupidly too big. In reality, they do nothing so as not to ruffle the feathers of the Dom and so not get tea and biscuits next time they pay a token appearance at the office.number one wrote:Just do your best then and work to your time. I bet the union is sick of having to hold the hands of adults and wipe their behinds all the time.rambo1 wrote:Walk too impossibly big to complete any day without going over? Union's response, you could come off it and go on something easier....! Wtf, that really isn't the point. Some other poor bugger is then going to have the same problems! That's the sort of senior reps we're having to deal with!

DGSP Terry Pullinger responds to Royal Mail Half-Year results
One of the many reasons that RM management act as they do is that too many people would rather get one over on a colleague than support them. Just because one person is mentally strong enough to stand their ground doesn't mean another person is - that is one of the reasons the union exists, to stand up for those who need "help".
Sadly the cwu is doing very little - last year they had a massive mandate for something to be done, and they peed it up the wall in exchange for an hour off the working week that no one had asked for. Then last week Terry tells us that in order for the culture to change we (the members) have to look in the mirror, and he didn't even mention the words "bullying and harassment". That shows how out of touch the cwu is with the real workplace.
If enough people stopped insulting and demeaning their work colleagues in a pathetic effort to look big, the workplace would be a better place. There is enough crap coming from the company without so called colleagues trying to score points.

I start on my time, have never failed any prep test, am constantly out before my "get out time", do the job correctly, have been tested on delivery a number of times, take a full break but am claiming overtime most days.
I would appreciate your advice on what I am doing wrong.

I think we're all sensible enough to know that if one person stands up to a bullying manager for not wanting to do overtime, they will attract more attention from the manager. I thought the point of being in the union was support so people didn't have to go through it alone.number one wrote:Just do your best then and work to your time. The CWU is massively out of touch with what posties want. The agreement has made a lot of things worst. Bullying and harassment hasn't really stopped. Its still the same old, informing line manager that you do not wish to extend and you would like some work taken off only for them to turn the screw back and inform you of well its still only 9am (even though you're not fully prepped yet), or mail's down (and there are 7 buddy trays of catalogues), or there aren't that many packets (and your packet shroud is positively overflowing with many packets ending up on the floor) etc etc and its like FFS...I know my own round better than anyone else pal so please feel free to walk round with me and you will see why it takes as long as it what it does. But they rarely do this because they KNOW.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
