To answer your question. Yes there are. Many, many Union Reps struggle every day to represent their members. To be honest I do not comment much on here but I get fed up with the way all reps are tarred with the same brush. The rep in any office is only as strong as the members he represents.The members are the union. There are offices with no cwu rep. Why do you think that is. It is because most of the time being a unit rep is a thankless task. Many units have had the same reps for many years. Why do you think that is, it's because no one else wants to do it. You think this company is bad now. How would it be without the men and women that stand to be reps and are voted in I hasten to add.If there is anyone out there that could do a better job stand for the rep in your unit at election time.

I do believe the union is only as strong as its members. Why is it a lie and a cop out. I see all the time on here people posting about bullying and harassment. If that is rife in your offices get out on the gate and do something about it. I go to different offices and you can see how it affects the negotiating position of the rep depending on how strong and together the members of that unit are. Where would we be if the members of this union did not back it.
The union can only encourage the younger members to get involved with the union and they do that through the youth section. So maybe it does look that way to all new entrants.

Union is only as strong as its organisation - this union is well organised
Engagement/ reach out - any union that returns a industrial action ballot like we did is pretty well engaged with its members.
Education - the education offered in this union is very good and comprehensive.

I notice in your post you say some of them are worse than no rep not that the vast majority of Reps are very good, so I guess I am wasting my time here. The CWU is by no means perfect as a organisation but I think in this day and age it stands up pretty well.

To simplify it, there's gooden's and badden's in all walks of life.
It becomes a problem tho when there seems to be more badden's than gooden's.
