update weds, big style streaming and failure today, dreading thursday, new boss please and less linos please, no good for the company. One reason is having 2 sorters and 4 porters not to mention all us clearing down 30 times a day , sometimes 1 letter, needs MANAGING! :d'oh!

I've been told by my union area rep that streaming. filtering, riddling of mail is a 'fair management request' but he also said the same about the cutting off procedure allowing for you to bring mail back at the end, even if you tell management you are cutting off beforehand, so I guess people are being told different things.

My understanding was that everything you take out on delivery has to be delivered, but apparently not.

You are both right. :shock:

As long as management tell you to stream, filter or riddle then as he says it is a reasonable request. Managers should report all failures and instances of incomplete delivery via their daily reports.

The cutting off procedure does both, it tells you to inform management and then follow their instructions, and it tells you that all mail taken on delivery should be delivered. Again as long as you follow management instructions, and preferably get it in writing, you SHOULD be okay.
All decisions must be made on the basis of a clear expectation that once the OPG departs from the Delivery Unit they will be able to deliver all mail in the remaining duty time. Failure to complete delivery could be investigated and may result in a conduct code interview.
3.1 PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT

a) Where an employee feels that on completion of preparation he/she may experience difficulty in completing his/her delivery within the authorised time allotted, he/she should approach his/her manager as soon as possible before setting out on delivery. It will be for the manager to discuss any problem and advise the employee what particular action should be taken.
Manager reports part completed walk on DODR and investigates the incident (see annex B of this document).
