So on that basis if Your Branch officials Say vote No (obviously this should be based on their members views) and your branch returns a YES what does that say about how class the reps are to the members? About as close as the leadership if a NO is returned??
How would they know how we voted!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

On any national ballot the result is announced nationally but CWU HQ also get a branch by brance breakdown on the results

Yeah they are always marked mate - not indiviually but just your branch. When we got the 77& YES vote for action in June it was the first time ever that there was a yes vote in every branch in UK

That's a bit disingenuous isn't it, in the event of a No vote CWU HQ would be able to "target" problem areas get a group of "persuaders" to visit secure enough votes by coercion and re-ballot - not that I'm suggesting that's what would happen, BUT I've seen it happen before.

Isn't that what happened on the Way Forward ballot - Keggie was given reports on the way voting was going by the supposedly 'independent' ballotting organisation and was able to press the pro branches to push members to vote.
If I remember correctly it was only carried by about 1,400 vote majority.

The point is that should we get a yes vote Nationally everything that Billy, Dave and the PEC have agreed will be vindicated as the members in a democratic vote have agreed with them [This is always the higherarchal get out]
We must vote no to this deal and if we return a good enough No vote Hayes and Ward MUST GO as we should not let much of the same happen.

The ballot is about the deal which should be voted out but if any branch official recommend's this agreement and the ballot return is NO then they would have to make the decision for themself's or come time for re-election to chose weather to stand and face the wrath of the membership in their area.

if its NO Hayes and Ward must go!!!!

regarding the outcome of the coming ballot

- i think its quite reasonable to think that if out CWU leaders think that its a great deal and if the majority think its not then they surely are unsuitable to represent us to our employers -

quite simply they stand in for all of us and if what they think is different to what the majority think then they must resign as the ballot is a vote on their judgement too!!!!

yep so what about the branches? If they recommend one way and the members go the other way should they resign?

branch decision

Post by Picket »

well - branch reps would be following the PEC -

we've had no branch meeting so we dont know how our branch are going will phone 'em tomorrow

if they recomend YES then they should have a meeting and explain why they have chosen to accept - then it would be upto the members attending to decide whether they're talking bullshit or not.

ultimately the members will have the final say surely - if there is a majority vote against the deal then all those reps at whatever level that supported the deal should seriously reconsider there position and be subject to re election!!!
