Failed special delivery

I always carry a card (the one we used for spls before pda's) if im late i've used that before, but not put a time on it and tell them when i get back to the office ,accidents happen but showed i did all i could to amend it . you'll just get a slapped hand and at most coached on what to do in the future, good idea is to write them down and leave list on dash board so you both see it .

Why do you use the card for late ones?

Even cards have to handed back to rle or the barcodes scanned before 1pm though for them to pass the spec. Anyway tell us what happened, 15 in our d.o failed over christmas but not too much hassle for us, let the many linos sort it out.

Who does the 'fining'?

I know the sender or receiver can claim compensation if a SD is not delivered before the appropriate time 1300 (£5 or £10 for substantial delay I think plus refund of costs),


but if neither submits a claim are you saying RM 'fined' by OFCOM or somebody for failing levels of service?

Yes. Because we are a Universal Service Operator a lot of the different streams of mail have specific targets at national and post code levels. If we fail them without good reason RM can, and have been fined.

Told dom today the honest truth of what happened and he was understanding.
In future I wont be seperating sd's again. Its too easy to forget them.

You should always take a paper slip with you so that you can obtain signatures in the event the PDA freezes or malfunctions in some other way..... or if you get to an address after 1pm with a special that you forgot about.

Then just phone office report the PDA failure, quote the 13 digit reference and tell them whether it was delivered or P739'd and of course record the time on the slip as before 1pm....

Or so I have been told. I would never ever condone such an action!

Every day I grab one of those bits of cardboard out of the top slot of a york to write my specials list on, even if there's only a couple. Fold over the top bit and stick it in the van cd tray (or air vent , whatever is on the middle section of the dash). Never any doubt during the day what needs to be done by 1pm.

If your battery dies before 1PM you have to use a signing sheet....
