My point is the early starters, no-meal break people will take on additional lapsing because they'll still get an early finish. All duties are not of the same duration - a simple fact that post revision has never been addressed. There are lots of staff put under unfair pressure - having started on time and had a meal break, to do likewise and take additional workload that cannot be achieved within contracted hours. OK I hear the voices from the forum saying "work your time, cut off " that is exactly what I wish for, but in reality it does not happen with management intimidation pressurising people and making them feel inadequate or are poor performer's. Do you not agree that there is additional pressure put onto staff because some people work for nothing and others have a work ethic that falls in he line of having basic principals of being an employee rather treated as some sort of slave.
Have we not now gone beyond breaking point ? or do we just continue accepting whatever management throw at us ? regardless of it being achievable. I state again the CWU must get these problems sorted, management are being left to their own devices now and it cannot continue - in my humble opinion.
Well said! :Applause

I fear for the future of the CWU within this company, there could well be a mass exodus of members unless something is done soon.

Time for delivery staff for get their heads out of the sand.

The CWU cannot help those who do not wish to be helped.

This idea that the CWU is some kind of magic fairy that waves its wand and makes everything right is foolish.

While delivery staff run around, cut corners, don't take their breaks, work unpaid hours, the CWU is fighting against the grain and cannot possibly fight the tide when a majority of employees simply refuse to do their job properly.

I am sick and I am tired of our union representative fighting the hard fight, again and again, for a majority of people who simply do not want to help themselves and, especially, do not want to help each other.

How many times must the rep go into a meeting arguing that x or y walk is too big, only for the person who is on it that day to walk in to the office with forty-five minutes left of their duty time? Regardless of whether breaks are taken, proper equipment is used, it's hard to argue in favour of that one.

I've seen our rep despair in a morning as he sees 80% of part-timers come in early, to varying degrees. Time and again he's told them to do the job properly. They come in earlier instead.

How can you represent idiots? How can you help people if they don't seek help?

Yet when delivery spans go up, these people start to cry. And those who do the job properly have to fight a war of attrition with management, simply to EARN THE RIGHT to NOT BE BULLIED because they do the job properly, because they book overtime.

If it wasn't for those C**TS who ripped their jobs to shreds around these people, they wouldn't have to defend themselves. If every postperson in Royal Mail did the job properly, they would never get away with this sh*t.

As it is, we have the same old b*llocks. "Oh, CWU, please defend the indefensible."

The CWU has no power because delivery staff keep taking it away from them.

While i have to agree that the runners and others that only see an early finish ahead of all and everything else are killing the job and making life near impossible for the Union to fight our case, the Union are still failing its members.

I personally have had a grievance up to level 3 that was rejected.
basics grievance was about being moved from a 1 in 4 rotate to a 1 in six.
Despite my case being fully backed by National Agreement, with regards to trying to get as more weekends off were possible etc it was rejected due to a preceeding local agreement - supposedly signed off by the Union.
I asked to see the details of the local agreement and was shown an excel sheet with an attachment (paperclip thing on page). the local agreemnet that rejected my greivance was inside the attachment. apparently nobody could open it to show me the details.
Area rep said he and the local rep would not have signed it.

That was the end of the argument - there is no case to appeal a rejected level 3.

Also not had a resign yet despite our revision being almost 2 years old now. Local rep has a cushy duty so doesn't want a resign and Area rep couldn't care any less it would seem, despite plenty of communication from members in my DO.

Local rep has the only RM bike left in the office and uses it on his delivery in a shared van. Has willingly accepted another 400 drops on his delivery (new builds) and takes 2 hrs overtime every day for it, despite being indoors by 1pm every day - his partner never gets back to the DO till 2.30 at the earliest - everyday. Nobody else covering the same duty gets the OT payment.

As far as my DO is concerned the local rep is only out for himself, the area rep couldn't care less and when HQ have been contacted there are reassuring words but nothing ever materialises.

Only reason to stay in the Union is in case of unfair action against you - there is simply no other reason i can see.
I've been with RM for over 20 years. Stood on the picket line many a time - and been shafted every time.

So does anybody from our union read these forums? Delivery have been totally shafted by the CWU with these unsustainable workloads and unenforceable, not worth the paper they were written on agreements. Is there another union we on delivery can join?
