halful if you believe the current board has the know how to push this business forward then fair enough,we can agree to disagree.many,many changes are upon us all,in every grade or position.but ill say this the starting gun has fired and were still on the blocks.i have little confidence in the current board ability to manouvere itself in this private indusry.i agree profits have been good,i feel they had to be pre-sell off,purely for investor interest,and yes i believe they will continue to make a profit,but that will happen by us downgrading our standards rather than them matching ours..in effect a race to the bottom.but hey.....no one knows for sure..

yes i agree rm seem too slow to react to changes and if we are not carefull will be in big trouble however rm is too big to go out of business but their will be big changes soon can see more mc disappearing and many small delivery offices being merged together worrying times ahead i think

the thing is mlw people sit in wtll sessions and are stunned at mail centre closures,shocked at s/a being cancelled,all grades losing some or all of there content,machines stopping running on certain shifts,possible redundancies,changing of duty content and changing of hours.overtime being stopped,different shifts fighting for work,plans changing daily..not nice thoughts i agree,but very much reality..royal mail hopefully will still be around in the future but in what capacity.

I buy quite a lot online, with something being delivered probably four days every week. It is all delivered by Royal Mail, except for a few larger parcels which have been delivered by Hermes. With the growth in online shopping I think there will be work for RM, but they should look at their pricing as a large parcel costing £15 or more with RM only costs about £7.50 with Hermes.
And before anyone says they are unreliable and doorstep, I haven't found this to be the case. I know from their online tracking on which day the item will be delivered, and if I can't be in, I know they will make two more attempts on the following two days.

yes i work in the NG area and amazon are on our doorstep right now.in my mail centre the words that were said and i quote "where are all the packets going"..well we know now!!like i said before its only just started.are we up to it,looking at how fast things are moving i would say no.but we live in hope,dont think any body who has felt the impact is "whinging" just being realistic and seeing whats actually happening in there area..royal mail doesnt move fast...that will have to change....fast.or bury your head in the sand,remember the ad we love parcels,well we better had and quick.

tesco,asda,lidl,aldi,co cop, sainsburys,waitrose......... all do exaclty the same thing, & they all are still around making profit & paying peoples wages.
They just have to adapt, & constantly look at new ways of doing things to bring customers in! Royal mail will have to do the same & im sure the current board of leaders recognize this aswell.

As business royal mail should not make any of it's products uncompetitive as customers will take one look and leave but with the ass holes who run it at the moment running it into the ground for profits sake short term gain long term pain for the rest of us all.

And the same goes for royal mail, tnt, dpd, hermes etc or they would not be investing in it!
Internet shopping is so big its hard to comprehend, i recently read that the uk are the biggest online shoppers in the world!
We spend an adverage of 73 billion per year on internet goods! & its keeps increasing by 10 billion per year!
The article stated the average adult in the uk spends well over £2000 a year on internet goods!
Its huuuuuge business & we have a huuuuuuuuge chunk of it thats why we post amazing profits!
Oh & if anyone is wondering denmark were 2nd when its comes to online shopping with the average person spending £1000 per year.
