Well the problem with that is that if you can't trust management to honour a deal you can never make an agreement about anything.
Doesn't concern me now, but if Delivery posties think it should have addressed their problems they can vote it out. They are over two-thirds of the membership.

The "No" campaigners on here are p*ssing in the wind anyway. Rightly or wrongly the vote will be a large majority for "Yes" simply because most can see the alternative could only be worse.

Go on Tman enlighten us in deliveries on what could be worse than a no agreement on delivery issues - vote NO and still have no agreement - at least that way the issues will have to be addressed and in the likelihood that no agreement is made we still have the option of National IA - vote YES and we don't. Consequently it is in deliveries interests to vote NO rather than accept that what we get is reviews - soooooo lets have the reviews see what they come up with and then vote.

I think you can be a smart and sensible person and vote Yes. It's not a question of wanting the cash. There are a lot of good reasons to think it would hold up. The protections written into the contract, that it lasts until 2019 or that it's the best agreement the CWU could get.

On the other hand, I'm not ready to jump into bed with management. There are tons of loopholes, too many areas where the fine details have to be worked out and in the end, the trust just isn't there. I can't see it lasting more than a year.

What "No" campaigners would those be? This is a discussion forum,It's a place to give opinions and have a debate not the place to run a campaign from.

As far as I'm aware there isn't an organised "No" campaign and I don't think there are many who genuinely expect anything other than acceptance of this agreement. The turnout could be less than satisfactory for a genuine mandate but a majority is a majority as they say.

Very true so what you have to do in a situation where you can't trust the employer is keep agreements simple and always have a plan B for when things go pear-shaped.
Does this agreement have an exit strategy for the membership?

A lot of people work in a far different situation to you cloherty.
If they were earning what you earn for doing what you do perhaps they would be full of festive cheer. Before criticising people for moaning you should really experience what it is that makes them unhappy. Only then can you make an informed judgement.

Delivery people in london earn what I do and life ain't always about money. One day I might join the delivery section again when I want an early and whatever happens I shall do the job to my best ability and a smile on my face :chuckle

cloherty, let's be honest here, you'll never go back to delivery.
I've no doubt you would try to the best of your ability, but that smile would be wiped from your face within the hour.
Within a month you would realise what a big mistake you had made.

Come on Pinky, it’s hard but it ain’t that bloody hard. Even a knackered old git like me can still enjoy it most of the time.
What worries me though is how much more they think I could/should be doing, because I've got precious little more left to give.

the only way to force cwu hq to take the delivery problems seriously is to reject there wonderful deal

the union know that discussions on delivery will lead to nothing as usual and we can only assume they don't give a monkeys how much your forced to take out every day

farcical doesn't come close :cry

in the last agreement it was agreed that contracts and hours worked would be reviewed and adjusted etc etc. in our office, anyway, none of that was applied. the only time when contracts changed was when we had our revision. And the union wanted to push for 1 in 4s which would of meant we lose 5 full timers. so it seems that royal mail will do what they want whatever the agreement, and the union was willing to sacrifice full time jobs just so around 8 people in our office could have 1in4 sats. i honestly dont know what to vote for. will anything seriously change even if you get what you want in the agreement. i dont think so. :nervous :nervous

You may be 'a knackered old git' Straight4ward but you've been hardened to it after years in delivery.Cloherty's coming from an air conditioned cab sat on his arse all day. I think that most delivery guys would swop places with him if they had his qualifications....... and they'd take the pay rise :whistle

The deal will be voted in, of that I have no doubt.
It remains to be seen if it will be adhered to....recent track records don't make it look good.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
