And we were to strike on a national level then surely that action would not be stood down until we got an acceptable pay deal and RM agreed to put back in place all it has taken... correct?

The action wouldn't be stood down because it wouldn't be stood up in the first place, Do you honestly believe that the membership would vote for strike action with the employer threatening to remove protections that could see us franchised, zero hour contracts and sold off piece by piece?
Do you think the membership as a whole would take the risk that we would "win" back these protections? Not just the militant types but the majority of members?
Do you honestly believe that HQ would ballot the membership knowing all that?

Whether you think this is a good deal or not you have to deal with the reality of the situation not empty promises and the reality is while these protections remain in place there will be no national industrial action so anything negotiated from now on will have to be done from that much weaker position.
Whether you think that it's worth it is entirely up to you.

Some people will never be happy just accepted you've got to work your hours it's a good deal, we are a private company now not many private firms offering what we are getting. once we get taken over that will be it take the deal

That's a very short term view Andy. The reason not many private firms are getting what we have, is that over many years we have earned and fought for pay rates, terms and conditions. Things have gone wayward since the 2010 agreement in my opinion, but this new proposal is a whole new ball game. Too many open-ended proposals for my liking which can be interpreted in a few ways. There's also a lot of promises that things will be sorted in delivery but i've heard that many a time too.
Do we really want to throw away what we have now for a short term financial gain ?
Do we really want to sink to the terms and conditions of 'other private firms' ?
Surely the aim should be to bring their workers up to our level, not for us to drop to their's.

~9% over 3 years (including this year, only 11 months too late once the CWU ballot ends in late Feb) and assurances about no parts being franchised off in the short term are all well and good.

But as I see it, the biggest issue affecting most of us since BT2010 is still unresolved in a clear cut fashion, namely the workload (both indoor and outdoor) that RM think we should be doing like robots day in day out at the delivery offices. In my experience, their expectations are miles out if doing all aspects of indoor work (including IPS/parcels/portering) and delivering according to SSOW/other regulations. Doing the job properly, their expectations by contract finish time are only met for a handful of days per year, on most of the other days we are talking far more than 15-30mins of o/t.

If anything, I expect performance pressure to get far worse now we are privatised, once Xmas and Jan sales are out of the way. Agreeing to this proposed deal looks like asking for trouble right now, as I forsee all these no-strike clauses coming back to haunt us.

which leads me to say(even though it kills me to do so),,,,you've got to say RM bosses have played a blinder on this one. getting our union to agree to what is more or less a no strike deal. they will say we can strike, but fish, you have absolutely hit the nail on the head. no one will vote for strike action knowing they will remove protections. the money is purely a blinding light to ensure their plan is backed up. our leadership is to blame once again. how do we get them out though?
