Looks good to me. The only reason to go on strike would be if the terms of the agreement are not met in which case the 'no strike' clause would already be invalid. The separate pensions issue shouldn't be affected by the no strike clause - it is separate.

No there is no deal, or even a proposed one. There is still some distance between the 2 positions, but the CWU team have judged that there is enough progression and movement towards an acceptable agreement that they have suspended the strike.

Its the lack of communication problem again. People don't have full facts in front of them and are filling those gaps with speculation. In fact we have one post on here claiming that a whole office is threatening to leave the Union because of the non existent deal.

We need fuller and more official communication along the lines of what Dingo provides, it would stop the panic and rumours.

after a nights sleep im abit calmer! i guess we just have to wait. just found it all abit deflating. had a mare of day yesterday also. guess it just compounded it. wish the union would come out and say what each point means.

and lets be honest - if there is a no strike deal it does not mean there will NEVER be a another strike. If the local manager pushes hard enough, or there is enough steel in the local members, then a strike - official or not - is probably inevitable,

Do I want a No Strike Deal - no - but only because it will delay our democratic right to strike, but even having a no strike agreement won't and can't expunge it completely.

My biggest fear from such an agreement is not from its title, but in it is effect - its more likely to fragment and isolate individual units and lessen the chances of combined action. Its Divide and Conquer writ large.

A no strike deal should be booted from the deal full stop.
The cwu must be nuts if they even considered such a thing.
And its obvious its on the table as she did this in canada.
If the no strike deal comes in then we will all be ripe for the plucking.

I can see a no strike deal if there is a 5 year agreement but I think it will be a legal agreement drawn up by Lawyers, in which case if RM renege on any part of the agreement then instead of striking they can just take RM to court, it is a of course a two way agreement so they could take the CWU to court but I agree with TBT I don't think it will stop local offices wanting to strike its if the CWU will let them, having been involved in a few walkouts especially if they are unofficial I can tell that the union hierarchy tend to panic a bit, it will be interesting to see what they come up with but for some reason Ime not as worried as I usually am.
