That there would be a deal?
There has been for every single dispute I've ever been involved in so well done for sticking your neck out and calling this one right.

You also said we should have accepted the old deal which means 1-8 wouldn't exist including longer protections,more money and a separate pension agreement.

I was happy with the old deal yes I agree. Remember this though if you are happy with this deal just don't moan about in a few years time.

The union have made it clear that there will no be a no strike deal and that we won't be agreeing to binding arbitration either. Royal Mail have offered a commitment to never taking executive action , the CWU welcomes that and willing to look at mediation or arbitration to resolve issues but will under no circumstances give up our legal right to strike.

Royal Mail have agreed to improve the pay offer and extend the legal protections from 3 years to 5 with no end date but a review and notice periods

The threat of strike action has moved the employer and in the next 7 days there will be either an agreement or the union has to serve legal notice by the 13th of November for strike action.

Surely this new deal would go to a ballot to us.
If there is a no strike deal then surely rm staff will vote no to the deal?.

All the details have to be written up the issues of a fair days work still needs to be negotiated. If there is a deal within 7 days it will go to ballot of the membership if there is no deal then the union will notify for strike action and cannot strike later than 20th November

Couched in these terms it doesn't look like a no strike clause but in fact it is. Once the teeth have been pulled is the CWU going to gum RM into submission.

They can do one if that is part of the new deal.

Well lets hope the i's are dotted and the t's crossed this time and we aren't staggering into yet another half-arsed agreement that still festers 4 years on. No roadshow this time lets have a fair and reasonable ballot to the new deal with an honest appraisal that includes a plan B. I have to be honest and say this 11th hour reprieve does not fill me with overwhelming confidence that this deal is going to waver too far from the original.

I was happy with the old deal yes I agree. Remember this though if you are happy with this deal just don't moan about in a few years time.

On the record, I was unhappy with the old deal. And I said some things... things that were probably a little too hurtful and mean. The old deal heard about this, and word got back to me that the old deal was hurt. I felt bad about it but then the old deal kept writing and texting me, over and over again. Finally, I had to put my foot down and had to write the old deal a letter (on paper, of course.) Look OD, I said, It's just not going to work out. Let's just move on with our lives.

Now I have this new deal and I'm hopeful and scared and I just don't know what I want to do, except maybe sing show tunes and cry at the same time. So let's get on with it.

(By the way, this has nothing to do with Royal Mail but my divorce has finally come through. Does anyone know anybody nice in the London area?)

Totally agree. Sounds exactly the same only substituting 3 years for 5.
