although I feel myself we should accept the deal(3 years) and fight the good fight (in 3 years)I will not be going in but I will not be on the line this time after being sold out with the 2010 agreement in deliverys...I have never crossed the line ...ever and will never just cant do it call it pride or stupidity whatever I am in a small office with lots of "breakers"....the wife aint happy and I fear it may cost me more than I think in the end(totally skint running on fumes)(15+ years in )I know for fact 85%-90%or more of ours will be in..i fu*kin hate this job just want to turn up to work and do my job...I am so low this time round but will stand

We are all going in because we dont trust the Union after they lied and cheated us 4 years ago at Reading.

We are shafted either way, if we support the union we will either get a 'groundbreaking' deal that'll be broken and circumvented like usual along with losing money during the strike. If we go in, Royal Mail will shaft us later. The unions are broken shadows of themselves and have been declawed by a government system that is utterly corrupted.

I think you strike on the Monday night through to the Tuesday Morning

i agree with banner 18, while i support a strike, i fear the union is losing clout,Royal Mail/Government seem to have been putting themselves 1 nil up through all this. Selling us from under our feet,every other day something in about shares etc,while in recent weeks barely anything from the union. I hope they manage to get us a really good deal,and it may take a few strikes to do so, this i fear is our last pay deal of any note.

This is a different dispute to any other before and I find it very difficult to fathom. As a union member I will still support any action it takes otherwise there'd be no point being in it any more so I won't be crossing but I'm very sceptical as to whether this is a wise course of action.

Exactly! It's no good saying the union has let you down in the past, so your not striking this time. By not striking you are undermining the union's position and making it more difficult for it to secure an acceptable deal. If you don't strike and your not happy with the resultant agreement then you share the blame.

I think a lot of people are looking for a way to ease their conscience,blame the union and they think it will make it easier to cross a picket line.

The union has its faults and i've criticised them more than most but nothing the union has done or could do would make me cross a picket line.I could tear up my membership card(if I could find it) and swear never to join another union and I still wouldn't break a strike.

Crossing a picket line wouldn't undermine the union,it would undermine my colleagues,their families and their futures,people I have called friends for many years,that would be sad and pathetic and crossing a picket line would undermine my family and their future and that would be short-sighted and stupid but most of all crossing a picket line would undermine me and if you can't even stand yourself there isn't much hope for you.

The problem we have is that workers think that the ballot and threat of industrial action was about stopping privatisation. The union were never going stop this, the forthcoming strike is about whats going to happen in the years to come. Those thinking about crossing the picket line need to think about where they are going to be in three years time? I'd rather lose the odd days pay now and have a healthy future in the company, than have my contract ripped up and re-employed on a minimum wage with a rolling contract!

Good few in our office are going in on the 4th.

No,a good few in your office say they are going in on the 4th.
There's a huge difference between talking the talk and walking the walk and it's a long,lonely walk through a picket line.

In our case we'll be lucky to man a picket line. I can't find anyone who is remotely interested in manning one. The CSS operators will be working because their shift starts at 1130 the night before, the drivers will be bringing stuff in like last time through the line. Hopefully the sub rep will organise one as the reps off.

What a lot of the moaners forget is we are the union,if we don't get a decent turnout then Royal Mail will force through some of the most draconian changes we will ever face in the next couple of years.
