STOP FUNDING THE LABOUR PARTY

I believe in a referendum of the members of weather the CWU should continue to use some of the politcal levy to fund the Labour Party. That is the motion London will be putting to conference. It is time the members had their say in a democratic vote.

I can't see Billy continuing as GS if the union pulls its funding of the Labour Party so that particular motion will more or less be a vote of confidence in Billy Hayes with all the resultant fallout that might bring.
Is London preparing a coup d'état?
Do we have a ready replacement?

Fish it is an Interesting theory but I don't see it as a no confidence vote in Billy.

I raised it as yesterday's briefing I am fed up with the phoney in and out debates at conference between the labourites and the SWP or other socialist groups. The Labour supporters will always win.

However as someone who has done dozens of meetings in last few months in offices all over ! The one question we get is always about the link and money we give to the Labour Party.

I think there are some good Labour Party members including Katy Clark from your neck of the woods but if the leadership don't listen then it is a failed link.

Our members deserve the opportunity to vote on whether a proportion of our Political levy funds the Labour Party. Next year the membership votes on whether the union maintains its Political levy which is vital we do but I fear members will vote against because they don't support the money we pay to the Labour Party that is why members should have a separate vote on whether the union pays the Labour Party money.

yes Billy will be opposed to this but this about more than just Billy's opinion it's about the opinion of 130 thousand members.

I don't disagree with any of your post but I do believe that Billy's loyalty to the Labour Party would leave him with a big decision to make should the membership choose to withdraw financial and political support for the party.
It would be his decision to make of course.

I don't think its a matter of IF anymore, it's a matter of How Soon we can stop funding Labour

How about giving a Wedge of cash to the SNP, at least they want to help to maintain postal jobs !

The rest we could give to the local branch network to fund local polititians who deliver the goods !
