I think you're right. PostieB obviously cares about terms and conditions and PostieA couldn't give a toss. In the real scenario B will go in because A is a tosser and A will go in as well even though he voted Yes.FinishOnTime wrote:In my experience, and if you can generalise about these things, Postie B would be striking, and Postie A isn't even in the Union.

Re: Postie A v Postie B
what should be happening is Postie C(the rep) should be having a quiet word in both their ears, they are both harming everyone else, and both need an attitude adjustment

It's an unlikely scenario that someone who cares enough to do the job properly would cross a picket line in some misguided huff because the other guy doesn't.

Re: Postie A v Postie B
The way I see it as a postie B is this. When royal mail look for more savings ,They see postie A finishing early. so he can take more therefore postie B has his job taken out and revised into A few postie a"s jobs simple as that .The conclusion is unless everybody does the job properly Postie b loses his round not postie A.Unless you have constant repicks ,which would actually stop a lot of postmen colluding with management in job changes.

If postie A has shown capacity for extra workload why not get postie C and manager A to find it for them until they are occupied to their finish time.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Re: Postie A v Postie B
The upshot of this is that Postie B is having a protest vote against the Union for not protecting him and not ensuring that the things they fight for and agree on are actually put in practice.
This is an issue that crop up time and time again in delivery and yet, we do not have a campaign or a strong response from the Union... It is time they start acting for there is no point asking people to strike for fair days work and pay and unrealistic efficiency demands (including lapsing) when people like Postie A are working against the principles and agreements.
Postie A not only puts pressure on his fellow worker by his action; he is also actively colluding with the manager by being such a loud mouth about it. 'Why can't he do his lapse - I can do it'
Postie A sometimes is working for nothing so he is giving himself an pay cut and if he his way Postie B will also be on a pay cut...
Postie A will drive the performance target higher because the manager can always point to his like that if he can do it, then why not you. A higher performance target for a minis-cue higher pay is self-defeating
Postie A action will put severe pressure or even force some people out or gets them the sack. Assuming that Postie B is average; anyone below average will struggle badly...
Postie A's action will eventually lead to a loss of job
Postie A is a dick and people like him that shouts his mouth off about other should be spoken to by the Union rep and CWU had better start dealing with issues of unfairness at work because that is why they might start to lose members - not on issues of a slight pay rise or pensions.
*** The soap opera above took place a delivery office near you - for free but
It could have happened at a MC - I could sort ex number of boxes in an hour why could he or she?
It could happen at a MDEC - why are people not able to Input at a minimum of 2000 items per hour and why is our bonus tied to our group instead of individual performance and so on... Something similar did happen and this raised the level of performance for new entrants and the bonus received became individualistic and less because they demanded more...

Re: Postie A v Postie B
Do you job properly Poster...
I decided to go to the CWU website and found this. I must admit that TBT had shown something similar or same in the past but what I do not understand is why is this poster not plastered all over delivery offices up and down the country?
This is not exactly going to cost that much and it is also downloadable.
Secondly, why is the CWU not using email more to contact and target members. Why?

Re: Postie A v Postie B
I agree with your generalisation. It should be Management that sort this kind of thing out, but we know that's not going to happen because Postie A is saving them Time & Money.FinishOnTime wrote:In my experience, and if you can generalise about these things, Postie B would be striking, and Postie A isn't even in the Union.

At the time it had us scratching our heads, but when you think about it the imaginary situation mentioned is a fine example of this.

Anybody who signs up to the union's email notification system receives everything the union produces but it's up to the members to a) give the union a valid email address and b) Opt in to receive communications.Secondly, why is the CWU not using email more to contact and target members. Why?
