In a years time may be no sick pay for all who is to day it will not happen?

Everyone - even the businesses position is no change to our T&Cs without agreement for 3 years - even the most rapid Conservative knows we would probably strike over that. Also current law is SSP after 3 days and thats £86 a week - so its unlikely we'll ever get nothing.

I did a search for this sort of thread without realising that we actually have one trending.

My partner & I were just wondering today whether newish starters (less than 6 months or 1 year) get sickness pay. This clears things up, no doubt.

We were concerned about a nice gentleman* new starter that has picked up an injury that is somewhat work-related (a tear in a not very nice place).

* This guy is an older fellow that is not the fastest or most confident looking or talking (not outwardly anyway), He was probably a desk job middle manager previously. Recession, hey!

I have not spoken to or worked with him for about 3 weeks. On 27hr contract, he was used all over the place, was hurried by some impatient folks and perhaps took on too much too soon by doing OTs and carrying heavy bags. Pity!

Well said tbt I just don't know why people try and scaremongering on here. It's not right.

Both sides do it - It is sad when people fail to use truth and research to form an opinion, it demeans their argument if they have to use fear and hyperbole to make a point. But as I say both sides of the argument are guilty of it.
