In a word BOLLOCKS you need to authorise your own phone to be tracked by someone other than the emergency services and GCHQ just be more concerned more about your PDA and your VAN the manager is BS you!.

Thanks for the input fella but if you had read this thread you would clearly see that this guy is not my manager he is a reporter with The Guardian and he is quoting actual legislation - RIPA - which he says allows RM managers to request location info on mobile phones from carriers. read the article!

No you tell em you dont bring your mobile to work
If they then want to track you they have to go down the proper chanel

Just get the whole office or rather all posties to get a free mobile off rm

such evidence like this probably wouldn't hold up in a ET since it relies on too many assumptions, infact it probably isn't even allowed for the use we are thinking of.

This sets out who in each organisation with powers under Ripa is at a high enough level to give authority, according to this it is a 'Senior Investigation Manager in Royal Mail Group PLC'.

So Talell is right, it's something the IB can use when investigating crime, not anything every manager has access to to keep an eye on his staff.
