working for royal mail is not like any job ive ever had ,ive been with royal mail nearly 6 years and for most of that time [nearly all of that time] it feels like i am constantly in situations of confrontation or defence. in no other sector i have worked at any level over nearly 4 decades have i witnessed or felt so much hostility. the cwu should with what i have seen and heard have the best union reps around simply from the expierience of working for the worst company in its relationship and treatment of its workforce.ive learnt a few things from this thread which have been informative and helpful , i dont know about other offices but we get no dialogue from our rep hes hard to talk to hard to find we have to search him out this is going to have to change there are so many things need addressing .......................................... or issit cause im a part timer?

If your not satisfied mate, stand against him and go for the Rep job yourself. I felt that way for a couple of years, so i have taken on the role, im not perfect, very inexperienced but im making myself as approachable as i can and learning daily the duties i have to perform. I will never know everything but at least if i dont, i know there are decent people around me to help. And i hope my members can see that.

Over the years rm have blamed us for everything , they think most of us r work shy, lazy ,click off early , not genuinely sick when we say we r , blame us for going on strike and them saying we lost them business . Some of the above maybe true but the majority give 100 % to the company o.t days off and r flexible . Bottom line alot of managers can't man manage and that's the problem , they cause the problems what irk the workforce than hide behind procedures they have to follow , when mist of the time a little commonsense woud be advantageous . My Dom is hated by everyone , and the workforce mean it . He's the most unapproachable manager we've had . I think this is part of rm cunning plan hoping fulltimers especially will get fed up and leave .
