My DIMDOM has just telephoned me to say again - that although under instructions to implement later starts - next Monday - it is totally impractical & he will not be doing it. That is because he knows - that we will not roll over - present the brown - just behind the two pinks & say, 'Shaft away'! I understood wot Tommo was saying - we gotta stay firm - stick together & all of us fight. You can only be bullied - IF you allow yourself - to be bullied! Attend work at your USUAL time & leave at the USUAL time :lfo :cfo

unfortunately our rep signed up for the later starts which we are now being held to unless we accept geo routing as it is, the agreement would then be ripped up. it went to a vote today and was 16-15 in favour of accepting geo-routing with about 10 more people to ask.
the rep resigned after signing up to it.

Why we are not all - singing from the same hymn sheet - totally baffles me. If your area-rep - branch secy - or chairman - are not approachable - telephone CWU HQ & ask for advice. If you think that your rep was bent - tell them that! P.M. me - if you need tele no's etc!mrlovepantsuk wrote:unfortunately our rep signed up for the later starts which we are now being held to unless we accept geo routing as it is, the agreement would then be ripped up. it went to a vote today and was 16-15 in favour of accepting geo-routing with about 10 more people to ask.

rep was pressured into signing it. that is why he resigned.
rm area manager is the one who says we got to honour it unless we agree to accepting geo routing now with a walk speed of 4.1mph.
union area rep says both are coming in anyway so we`ve got to vote on which one we agree to now.

It's your unit dealing with this - so who am I to say that you're wrong! I would still chance your arm & telephone CWU HQ - That stinks - to high heaven - to me! If my area rep - gave me that advice - I would laugh in his face & go around him - to Division. I would also stand against him at the next election. You are being blackmailed. Take the chance - of waisting 5 minutes & scream at HQ.mrlovepantsuk wrote:rep was pressured into signing it. that is why he resigned.

got this letter via the area rep today
area rep wrote this letter to manager today and later starts have been stopped. Just follow suit. Poor that HQ haven't done it!
Subject: Executive Action – Later Starts
Dear Mr ********
We met on June 20th at stage 3 of the industrial relations process to discuss later starts across the ** area.
At this meeting you assured us that you would inform us of your intentions via letter and that at least 28 days notice would be given to any changes.
This morning I have received a number of telephone calls from representatives across the PL area informing me that your managers are stating that executive action is to be taken and later starts enforced on Monday 17th September.
I am sure that you will understand that this short notice period leave many of our members unable to start at the times you request. You will also be aware that there has been no national agreement given to any later start times.
I ask that you treat this letter with the utmost urgency and get back to me ASAP so that I can communicate with my members and seek advice from CWU HQ.
Regards

It happened in our office. I E-mailed HQ and E-mailed Dave Ward. No reply and it's been months. I told the Area Rep, but all parties just ask the unit rep who tells them the later starts were asked for by the members and are popular. No one ever seems to think of turning up at our office and talking to the people it affects. The Inspector wrote:It's your unit dealing with this - so who am I to say that you're wrong! We've had them since October mate. No re-sign. The DUM wanted them, they suit the rep who is on a cushy little driving number with every firm on his delivery closed on Saturdays. A stich up if ever there was one.

I would do it myself, but I had enough over the seven years I was the rep. Unfortunately, there is no one young and motivated in our office these days. As long as they've got a i-pod with some crappy rap music and enough for a pint, they're happy.lovejoy wrote:not good mate! Get him out! Trouble is one day very soon if they don't wake up they won't have enough money to get by let alone throw away!IWW Fellow Worker wrote:I would do it myself, but I had enough over the seven years I was the rep. You can't tell most of them. Plenty of the younger generation will take any amount of s**t from the boss without standing their ground. I blame the parents. I had a priveledged upbringing. Mine were good socialists and I've brought my kids up the same way.lovejoy wrote:Trouble is one day very soon if they don't wake up they won't have enough money to get by let alone throw away!
