must be nice getting a wage slip every week even though your a bit fed up!
amazing how depressed people come back to work when they only got 50% wage after 6 months.
we are all fed up but still go in everyday.
shall we all just give up?

Wait till you go off sick your self. Depression is not just being fed up. I know that this just your oppinion and I expect you work realy hard and have never had anytime off. The rules are there, 6 months full pay then 6 months on half. There is no time limit with depression and it can affect anybody,

Don't be so ignorant - I hope life runs smooth all the way for you , you shouldnt be so insensitive - these changes etc are effecting many with stress and worse and everyone handles / deals with it differently ! With all the constant change and pressure for so long now many will breakdown - I know from experience and I am a grafter but you can't always be strong so show some compassion you twit ! And these are fellow work mates !? Yea it's fair to say some swing the lead but if your genuine , consult dr , go down all the right channels and your sick then your sick end of - do you really think decent people like being off !??? Think again and show some sympathy or better still just talk to these people as talking helps them heal . End of rant

if your signed off sick you don’t have to attend work. not for one second .ITS Perfectly acceptable for your dim to phone up or even visit to see how you are doing,after all you are being payed..YOU Donot have to be home. it doesn’t prove your lying or on holiday .YOU Can do and go anywhere you like..(EXCEPT Work of coarse) tell your dim your going to stay with your mum in spain so she can nurse you..

Again you can do and go anywhere you like (except work)if signed off..NOTHING Says your not allowed to leave your house.

Your dim is being a lay bastard asking you to go to him.
Your being a dim by actually going.
If you can go there what stops you from working..CAN You be too sad to read an envelope and push it in a door?

Well I would comment about your post Bitchface (apart from the edited comments) but someone who equates suffering depression to feeling sad has obviously not experienced it, knows no one who was, and lacks any empathy at all, so there's no point in entering into a debate on that part of your post. Oh I have never suffered from depression, a very mild case of PTSD but that's about it.

As to the rest your general point I believe is correct, if a little forthright, except in that your assertion the manager can visit or phone you because they are paying you. As I understand it the visit has to have a reasonable basis, as does the phone call. For instance a one off pre-arranged visit would probably be fine, in most circumstances, or even a weekly visit to see how the employee is feeling. However its not a rule set in stone, if the medical advisor, mental health practioner, or GP believe that a visit by a manager would be detrimental to the health of the individual, then even the best manager in the business will be treading on very uncertain ground if they do decide to visit against their advice.

What I am saying is that each case should be treated on its own merit, and the manager should be able to use their discretion. Of course RM do not recognise discretion and most managers don't have it anyway.

Hello everyone, I´ve been in the company for 9 years now and alot things happen over the years .. and I been off work for 3 months on depression..
What´s happen now my manager ask me to go to the oficce every monday just to see his face and talk for couple off minutes...This annoyng a bit....
Since I been there I never sow this procedure...I ask the manager if this is really necessarie, he sayd it is...
What I want ask is: if you on long term sick do they have rigths to ask you go every monday on the oficce to just see your manager?
I think ,what they want know is Im around and not on holiday...
