Should I go chin him about the holiday???? :hmmmm

I have a problem relating to this that I hope some Union guy can please help me with. (We don`t have a rep in our office)
I tried to book the week of the wedding off along with the following week for annual leave but the first week was refused.
I then today asked for Saturday 30th off so I could go away (as most holiday accommodation run Sat to Sat) I was flatly refused. Now I doubt if I can go away!
Is there some way I can make them give me my entitlement? I already tried reasoning with my boss, and swapping my day off all to no avail.
Can I just say to them I will take it in unpaid leave?
I have very infrequently asked for odd days off but I am always refused, surely they can`t just go on refusing without a valid reason. On this occasion his excuse was what if somebody went sick though drinking too much during the wedding celebrations, he would be short staffed!
I would really appreciate any advice please!

Yes you could do that, but then begs the question that if he says yes then what's the problem with you using your AL for it.
You've booked your holiday so you can't come in.You've tried your best to work round it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Ok i have to be careful here, you have no choice if you are going away on the Sat but to have it off.
Explain this to you manager and inform him that you are prepared to take it off unpaid if the cock won't pay you.
