We can't back down now we must continue to stand up to the bullies or we will go the way of the miners.

Socialist Workers Party

Post by KawasakiKid »

ImageHad a face to face, one to one meeting with the local constituency MP a couple of weeks ago (NuLiebor}, which was arranged at my request, to see if he was interested how the postal workers in his constituency, were being mistreated by RM. I explained in detail about bullying, harassment, lies, misinformation etc. etc. both locally and nationally. He was very attentive and asked me some pertinent questions relating to all that I told him. He expressed concern about the loss of full time jobs, erosion of the service to the customer and other stuff. We talked about the IA, I told him my members were hard working decent people who only wanted to do a good job etc etc. He volunteered to stand shoulder to shoulder on the picket line with his constituents. Now this guy is a career politician, shoe horned into a safe LieBour seat that would vote a monkey in. So I was puzzled and suspicious although hopeful, that maybe GORDY BROWN was going to live up to the change he has promised us cuz this guy was singing a different tune. We arranged that he would attend the picket line tomorrow (Thurs 2nd Aug). I left that meeting thinking maybe a change was on the way from (LieBour) and we could look forward to some support from a so called socialist party who at the moment govern this country. I phoned yesterday to confirm his attendance on the picket line tomorrow. Guess what, he's got his dates mixed up and he can't make it!!!!!!!!! Surprise Surprise!!!!!!! This is an MP who has been supported by the local CWU branch in canvassing in elections and stuff (not me). I'm not political at work but to conclude, the only party that has given the postal workers 100% support locally is The Socialist Party! They get my vote from now on. ------------------A Time Konsuming KWAKImage

Rizla wrote::lfo and :cfo are both sell-outs!!!!! They really are a pair of overpaid puppets. I feel that they are just doing what they have been told to by the government. What business-owner is going to give their chairman and ceo a whole stash of £££ without telling them how and what they want it spent on and putting forward their business plan? The fact that the government has not stepped in speaks volumes to me - aren't they the ones pulling the strings?

I think that either nothing will come of the strike or the government will "stand in" and tell :lfo and :cfo to "bring things under control". The "humiliation" would be painless for them with all the £££ they have in the bank.

Maybe there will be a backing-down on some of the strings - only for them to be implemented by stealth at a later date? Team-working, for example has already been implimented, to a point. In years gone by, if a collegue was absent his duty was covered on overtime. In my office, the duty is now lapsed and we have to cover for that collegue for no extra pay - it was not like this before and we would always get overtime - not any more. Our line manager just get's a nice fat bonus for "saving" hours!

Nevertheless, we have to remain strong and put up a good fight. The general public are supporting us more than we think. They are just as fed up as we are!

GB and the rest of this fascist government can suck my (you know whats). All they want is the few pound from the sell off of RM (I'm too angry to articulate this properly).

Stay strong and hope for the best!!!
:lfo & :cfo have threatened to resign on more than one occasion ,if they didn't get thier business plan& there's the two failed privatisations these 90's American style CEOs don't really do Govt unless there's money in it for them ; a New Labour Source said AL is high maintenance but worth it !. Some Directors have resigned as a result but the golden handshakes like the £500,000 for Toime 's personalty clash problems sound like Hush money. These aggressive types go for blood on the carpet but I've not heard of such golden handshakes in Private industry . This is strange unless RM are frightened of high profile tribunal cases & adverse publicity. The last CEO was a disaster, he was retiring anyway ,£60million purchases of companies then reselling them back for a tenner !, dodgy IT (very New Labour !} , the cost of rebranding to Consignia £2.5 million ? so New Labour went for "personalties" , they wanted RM split up for a privatisation and saw the CWU in the way so Leighton's union busting experience with Walmart was required . The kindest thing I can say about New Labour is that Howard, Duncan-Smith , Hague & Lord Snooty would have just gone for straight privatisation with no messing about. The Post Office is a poisoned chalice and you wonder how much success NL have had in head hunting replacing that church bell ringing (what b*****ks !} morris dancing CEO.

The goverment are already involved, when they lent :lfo :cfo the 1.2 billion it was on the understanding that they would make savings in RM, and what is the quickest and easiest way to make savings, US, new Labour have been selling us out since the day they took office, the question isnt what will we accept, its what we are going to have to accept if we lose this, :lfo :cfo will throw money at this dispute, in an attempt to break the union, theyve already started doing what Edwards did in the British Leyland dispute, and bypass the union by writing directly to the workforce.
:lfo :cfo couldnt do what they are doing without help from the goverment, its time for all of us to ask our local MPs if they have writen to :lfo :cfo to ask them to negotiate, and if not why not, and what are they going to do about it, give them hell, the goverment are our employers not the two Dictators at the top.
:lfo :cfo cannot give me anything personally, i have asked the CWU to negotiate on my behalf a settlement that will be voted on by every single person in RM, what will i accept anything that is voted on and approved by the workforce of RM,we are living in a dictatorship...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
