We all know how hard it can be financially, and the stuff about freedom of speech etc, etc. When I think of our situation, I try to look at things with a balanced view. However, there are some things that really need to be said. Without making a stand on issues, the world would be in complete turmoil. Men and women have stood side by side in protest, and without them where would we be today? Kids down the mines and in the factories still. Poverty rife, and sickness and early agonising deaths still the order of the day. Oppressed peoples, even whole nations and continents would still be commonplace. Afghanistan and Iraq? Without protest we don't get change. We would still be poor, still be sick and dying in our thousands, just to save the bossess a few quid and help them get richer. Extreme view I hear you say? No! never! FACT. I come from Manchester, a city still poor in places, with ill health and poor housing still a problem for some. My fellow mancunians have stood against oppression in their thousands for generations, ( lets also remember the Peterloo masacre herehttp://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/peterloo.html ) and will continue to do so. I come from family that had 2 (known) deaths in WW1 and about 6 (yes, thats right) 6 brothers killed in WW2. Why? Because they made a stand. Losing a few quid cos I'm out on the picketline, so what? I know that my family and friends are proud of me because I made that stand, and will continue to do so. I am just very sad that people like yourself think its not worth the struggle.![]()

Why Margie why?
Disappointed again Margie
Was there any need mate.
Got one of my lads wanting to come down to your place,he's the same as you aint got long to go,lives in westgate.
But he's not coming down Margie, the reason Margie?he can't get a full time place there Margie.
Seems Margie when we leave now the job goes down to 20/30 hr contracts.
There's only 20 hrs available to him Margie,he's spoken to your DIM.
When you go Margie, your job will probably go down to them hours as well.
This is without all the other s**t that we'll have to put up with.
A man of your age should know better.
Shame on you for the wind up.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Margate Postman rather than hiding behind a nom de plume on your keyboard and popping up and throwing stones at us all please resign from this fine site and leave us that care to fight for what we believe in. I personally believe that all this modernisation that is talked about in this so called pay deal+22 strings is for us more of coming full circle to victorian times when children were sent up chimneys etc. as seems to be the way in so many places of employment now. .

YOU DON'T GET ME I'M PART OF THE UNION

margie the sad
Shame on you margie this is a brill site for people who care about the job. it's a great way to keep on top of what is actually going on , for without this site we would all just have to put up with managerial bullshit about how weak the action that we are taking really is.It must be haveing an effect regardless of what is being said by the dum's. They can only bury their heads in the sand for so long.So all I can finnish of with margie is support us or become a scab and p.....off.

Great post mate! Manchester has always had a great tradition of standing for what is right and it's nice to see people like yourself who are not willing to let the side down. During the miners strike and the dock strikes, Kent also showed they have men and women with spirit. I'll bet they'll all be ashamed of that knobstick from Margate.heapsy wrote:Very sad to read you feel the way you do Margate Postman. Hi guys, it seems to me that this site is being infiltrated. Every time I come on here someone has started spouting some drivel designed purely to wind us up. Personally I think we should just ignore them, maybe POSTMAN can get us a new icon. Everyone who comes on here must know what this site is about. Here we can get things off our chest, pass on information, and more importantly support each other. The views of the majority of users (I'd say more than the magic number 77%) agree with most of the posts made, after all we're doing the same job for the same pay in the same conditions. Yes we're all different, we have different opinions about most things, except about what is happening to our beloved Royal Mail. Yes it is our Royal Mail, we make it what it is, or at least we try in spite of managements attempts and I love my job. Which is why like so many of my colleagues I have made my stand. Free speech and democracy go together like ham and eggs. You can't have one without the other, but at times we have to let the other guy speak, that's democracy. We do not however, have to agree with anything he says, nor do we need to rise to his bait no matter how idiotic he is. Some people are beyond hope and redemption, but let's remember them when this is over. If we lose we will know why, if we win, what will they do?
There are lot's of people on this site whose politics I do not agree with, (but as my old granny used to say "Never argue about politics or religion, there can be no winner.") and there are some I do, and I would never dream of deliberately offending anyone, even managers, but that's just me. I honestly can't understand people who do and while as I have said, they have the right to speak, we have the right not to listen.
