I have to have business use 1 on my car but thats for union work. ( expense claims etc)

When I was on a course admittedly 20 years ago I was told that it is illegal to overload a car just as it is to overload a waggon. Has that changed or can the police pull you over and do you for it.

your car should have a manufacturers maximum load capacity and if you were to exceed that capacity your car would be illegal to drive therefore if your going to use your car make sure you weigh your bags or better still just take your first bag and give the rest to your driver to drop out to you

The average car can take 4 adult passengers, each weighing 70Kgs plus luggage.

Unless your delivery is a quarter of a ton then you should be ok (I rarely deliver over 100Kgs) , however as someone said class 1 insurance is very expensive and it puts a driver out of work - give your bags to them and don't take it with you.

one person and one bag in your car if you must use it as , stupid as you may be for doing so as it's yours and not r.m's
your l/m should not let you put more than one bag in your car if you should have an accident then he must take the blame if you have of course told him. but he should stop you putting more than one bag in you private vehicle but there bonus is for a clear office for that they will turn a blind eye untill of course somthing goes wrong then they would blame you as most would wriggle out of any blame , with r.m's backing i dare say

But you don't have 4 blokes sitting in the boot. I was thinking if someone puts a whole rounds worth of bags into the boot to keep them hidden it could quiet easily in the polices opinion overload the rear axle, thus causing problems if you have a front wheel driven car. Just a thought . I don't use a car anyway as the extra timed saved at the end of the working day does not cover the wear and tear and therefore the increased costs of Servicing and repairing that most people seem not to take into account

I think you will find you need buisness use 1 added to your insurance it may cost about Â£20 sometimes free depending on your own insurance company however this does not cover mails in the vehicle at the end of the day this is a car not a RM Vehicle.
if in doubt ring your insurance they will be happy to help you, ask them how much it would cost if you needed to carry mail etc then sit down before you fall down in shock.

if you use your car on delivery every day how much does it cost you?
Petrol wear and tear
Wet seats when it rains
brake ins when unattended
wear and tear punctures etc
What do your insurance say?
ask your insurance about the cover RM provide you with?
if insured for buisness use 1 ( the cheapest outside of RM) sometimes Â£20 more on your insurance this does not cover mails carried for work use!
the cover of replacement car while yours is off the road RM insurance does not cover this!
Recovery of your own personal car following damage or accident whilst in work RM insurance does not cover this!
Injury to yourself while carrying mail does yor insurance cover this under RM?
Now for 30 min's early finish would carry on using your car?
If broken into is your vehicle secure to protect contents of letters packets priorities etc?
I would rather take the van than cause an inconvenience to my family car & family would'nt you?
