There is no accuracy check for the IPS and I'm certain no accuracy check for Prep - but this would seem illogical (that doesn't mean there is an accuracy check)

No it doesn't hold, there's never been such a test..
The test now is the 1 minute test, the one it took over from approx 8 years ago was, sorting- 500 items in 20 mins with only 4 mistakes allowed..

one of the managers in our office counted the ,mail of a colleague, he claimed that there was slightly more than 700 items and it should take less than 35 minutes to sort, he then said that he GUESSED how many packets and news he had in his drop bag. The formal interview has been done and my friend has been told that the same manager will deicde wether to issue a formal warning or not.

What was the result of this?

How can any sort of disciplinary be based on guesswork? For under-performance, surely that manger needs a precise amount of items that the person sorted in a given time frame? I'm sure a industrial tribunal would have a field day representing the postie in such a case!

I've been tested twice in the space of 5 days. 23 the first time, 26 the second time. Neither test was on an empty frame. Surely now that I've passed I shouldn't be tested anymore?

Just for the record I'm not very popular in managements eyes at the minute and I'm feeling like they are out to get me, and others I may add.

You have shown you have reached the required standard there should be no need to test you again unless you have a very long absence or switch functions for a fair while then return to your office.
If your are tested again or your sorting standards are questioned and you feel agrieved or harrased their are procedures in place to deal with your problem.Not an easy option, but to be frank it either that or put up with things.

Can someone provide proof that there is no agreed full prep rates, our rep believes there is and has been involved in verification of the mail count. The linos have a table which they are using to calculate overall prep rate. You throw your walk up, having the stopwatch paused for non-work activities, (toilets etc.). Then when ready for tie up, the mail count is undertaken and the results checked from the table. If you fail to meet the 'required', i think around 14 items per minute,then the work place coach re-trains you, if after that you fail again its a conduct issue.

The TEST rate IIRC is 25 per minute on a 1 minute test.

There is no individual sorting rate that has been agreed by the Union, but there is an office sorting rate in the planning tools for indoor work, This is different from office to office and is somewhat dependant on their BSI score.
