pouch searches

The more bag searches they do ,the better. Me ,I'm pissed off with delivering yesterdays mail for some corner cutting cowboy looking to make some time who can't see beyond tomorrow

In our office they did pouch searches one morning and found that many guys bringing in dead mail, ticket left items etc that hadn't been pouched off they stopped the searches before everyone had come in. Most of the reasons given were if managers wouldn't pay if they went over their time pouching off then they wouldn't do it. No one got even a mild bollocking and the whole thing was brushed under the carpet.

Edit As long as the cops have a valid warrant.

Sorry my understanding is that they do not need a warrant to search your car, all they need is reasonable cause.

If you are driving a police officer can stop you at any time and ask you to show your drivers licence, MOT or insurance documents.

If the police have good reason to suspect your car may contain stolen goods, drugs or something you could use to commit a crime, they could search your car, even if you are not there. However, the police must leave a notice saying what they have done. so, if they do not find anything to connect you to a crime, you can ask the police for compensation for any damage they have caused.

Sorry TBT i meant a warrant to search your house or garden and there are even exceptions for this although i don't think any would be applicable here.

The IB don't have any powers of arrest nor can they search your private property without your concent,however they can make a citizens arrest just like the rest of us.If i was to see someone loading up their car with mail from my MC,I would be within my rights to try and stop or detain them, the same as the IB.

Managers can check your pouch and locker as its royal mail property, anything else and they would need either the IB or your permission
