UL pal. I deliver in the ropier parts of Sheffield and see the vans left running all the time ( Not just RM either ). Out of our depot we are made to use key reels which although annoying at 1st totally wipes out the danger/temptation.

Its not looking to good for you matey ,What were your reasons for leaving the engine running.
Your response will be the same response you give at your hearing theres no point in trying to jazz the circumstances up as this will have no bearing on the outcome.
Its happened buddy theres no changing the fact so just tell the truth,which is theres no fecking time these days to stick to R/M guidelines.
Have you contacted your area rep as it will be them sitting in and arguing your case.
Hopefully 22 years unblemished service will work in your favour and you will receive a 2 years serious ,but this is highly unlikely because your a full timer and of course the van getting pinched.
Whens your hearing ,dont go before the push as the push may not come but dont hold your breath.
Stay strong buddy if the worst does happen there is life after R/M ,i hope you have a favourable outcome GOOD LUCK mate.

Not looking good mate, there has been enough warnings about this to all and sundry, time and time again, it doesn't take more than 10 seconds to take the key out and in addition to do what you need to do and start the van again.

Rode past our driver today, exactly the same thing, engine running and door left wide open. But he was lucky it was me and not some scum bag going by.

I dont have a clean record, im part time now.
The meeting went well, the UP was brillant, tripped up the managers once or twice.
It looks like a 2 year serious, or maybe the sack with a right to appeal

Hightec.....i hope you get to keep your job,along the same lines,just heard about one of our fellow members with over 30 years service was out on his rural delivery,got back to his van and found the IB there dangling his van keys,yep left the keys in the ignition,running and mail on the front seat.....whats the expected outcome for him,has had a bit of time off recently and is on a stage 1.................
