For the record the whole pec supported the interim agreement. Secondly only 3 opposed the agreement phil browne , pete keenyside and jane loftus. However none of their branch's are opposed to the agreement. All 3 have stated they will be bound by collective responsibity. That's why none of them have come out and attacked the agreement.

Now if you really believe that boycotting the pec election will mean they don't have a mandate is laughable. It is akin to sAying boycot the general election as who ever wins won't have a mandate. By the way the reason that thacther introduce postal ballots was so trade unions had low turn outs . Last year the pec were elected with a 12 per cent vote.

Plus according to royal mail who count the mail for the postcode where the national agreement is being returned it's a small turn out!

If hardly any of the voters like any of the PEC candidates, what else can they do but boycott the ballot?

The low turnout for the national agreement indicates that your 'yes' campaign has only succeeded in persuading members not to vote at all. Even if the 'yes' voters win, you can't bring in an agreement on the strength of a couple of hundred members of staff voting for it.

Thank you for the information at least now the members who care to find out can make an informed choice, much appreciated . Quite how others think that operating a system of collective secrecy helps the membership to participate in a fair and democratic election mystifies me.

Not to be picky dingo but just to be factual i think it was John Major who introduced the 1993 Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act which forced through postal ballotting for industrial action,union mergers and collective agreements.
Although i'm quite happy to blame her for anything.

Well if dingo's info is correct, it means Katrina Quirke voted for the agreement while her branch, South East Wales Amalgamated, are recommending a NO vote .......kinda leaves her out of touch don't it ?

True ,but you can make it very uncomfortable for the ones who get in by default with hardly any votes. Just vote for the ones who represent your views and let the other votes slide,be interesting to see the results

this does not say that they (the three no's) agree with the deal just that they will abide by it as a majority decision although it's a bad un'

these pec elections should now be an open to all bassis as clearly the rank and file are to say the least unhappy about those who gave the thumbs up to hayes & ward (although i dare say the thought of losing the nice comfy position they hold would have no doubt some bearing on voting procedures)

He took VR big daz, and so have two areas reps proper to the branch
