if i was you i would have insisted they back date it till when i returned to work, a couple of weeks i dont mind but when its months i make my manager back date any stage or i refuse to sign it. You cannot appeal but you can put in a grievance against it if you want to.

Update on the matter!

Spoke to my union rep this morning he said keep quiet on the stage 3 as it looks like it may have passed, :confused as i know it may be in the pipeline.

Regarding HR £10 charge! Well the union rep did some investigating and not one person within the mail centre knew of this  . so the union rep is bringing it up in the next union meeting.
Another sneaky move on behalf of this corrupt business we work for.

@Coxie. yeah looking back now i was very naive to be honest accepting the stage 2 warning, I should have taken a union rep with me to advise me.

I don't usually stand up for the business but I am afraid that the £10 charge for information under the Data protection Act cannot be blamed on them, its something that the Conuservatives brought in a bout 15 years ago.

http://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/faqs/data_ ... 61D808511B" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Q: Can an organisation charge me for giving me my personal information?
Requesting personal information from an organisation will usually cost a maximum of £10.00. However, in some cases it may cost more, for example, requesting a copy of your medical file:

Information that is being processed by automated means (eg on computer): £10.00
Information that is held manually or a combination of manual and automated records: up to £50.00
Requesting personal information including your education records:

A sliding scale ranging from £1.00 - £50.00 depending on the number of pages to be provided.

TBT is correct, but its very poor if HR wont give you a copy of your sick record. Am I right in thinking you do get a copy of each stage as it happens though? That means of course you need to file it away safely each time you get one!

Regarding the sick record. The person in the contact centre should have told you to speak to your line manager. Your line manager will be able to provide it for free using the My People system, but I'm guessing that you don't really want to ask your line manager for it.

Still heard nothing on the matter!

Quick question what is classed as a reasonable time frame? I ask because last night i spoke to a manager from another office, after asking him what is in this IR framework regarding time scales in issuing stages, he said to be honest i don't know  !
Anyway he got back to me later on through the night and said "all it states in the IR framework is a reasonable time frame".

So what is a reasonable time frame?

F~~king Royal Mail, nothing within this business is clear or understandable! Everything can be bent to favour the management

Nowadays at least at my place, you're pulled in within a week of triggering any stage.
I personally if it went over a week would ask for it to be backdated.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Should not have to, it should be provided by HR. Imagine the scenario of having a postie asking their line manager for their sick record. Few days later said postie falls ill.

What do you think our inspector clouseau line managers will think? (more than normal).

STILL waiting for my Line Manager to provide mine! :cuppa

New rules now coxie, HR no longer provide it. "Ask your Line Manager" is all you get.

I have just had a letter from RMs data protection team and it cleary states that this still free from HR along with a few other free details.

Now either staff are not well trained or have been told wrongly not to give it!

Well they must make it up as they go along, i have been told twice by HR that you need to pay £10. Also two other colleagues have requested it this week only to be told the same.

It seems then that they are being told to then by the sound of it. for the price of a stamp, send a writtern letter to RMs data protection team at aldershot they will say in their letter that the sick record is free to obtain from HR
