That's a good point. Surely some of the money from our Subs, should be put into a Hardship Fund. :hmmmm

A propotion of your union subs do go into a defence fund , and there is also a welfare fund.

However in major disputes it is normal for an appeal throughout the union Branchs and the wider trade union movement for donations. In the past we have seen this with disputes in melton mowbray , Liverpool , Northern Ireland , Burslem , Stoke to mention a few,.

The fact is that Branch!s recieve a rebate each month to organise in their branch area and there is subsitiunail amount in Branchs so thats why this appeal has gone out. Some strikers in London now have lost over 15 days , whereas the bulk have lost 13 days, 14 after next tuesday. The hardship fund is their to help our members who have servere hardships who need financial help. A strict audit has been put in place to ensure that documentation and supporting evidence has be in order before any payment from the fund would be paid out.

Billy will be sending out an LTB today concerning the fund.

Its a "Letter to Branches" - if you are in the Union and have a log in for their web page you can get them all sent to your email account. If not we post them in the various sections on here - Union Room, H&S and News as applicable.

thanks true blue terrier. I did ask a union rep about help with finances and never once did he mention a hardship fund
