Past governments DID take a 'pension holiday'. But no matter how much pressure we put on RM through strike action, Royal Mail are not the government and cannot themselves alone sort out the pension fund. So I'm not convinced that strike action will achieve anything where the pension fund is concerned. In fact, when we have one-day strikes, we'll all be paying only 4/5ths of our normal pension contributions that week, making the deficit slightly biggersteven100 wrote:"So who was it that actualy spent the money from the pension in the first place. This one reason the union should be telling us to strike, in 1 year time the Tories will be in power. Or do we wait till we've lost everything. Pension gone, jobs going down the pan, made to go part-time. Bleak if our union doesn't set a motion for strike action to get our pension money we DESERVE.
Politicians are the ones we need to put pressure on, and we rely on the union to do that for us. Fat lot of good it's done us so far though, having the CWU contributing to Labour Party coffers and supposedly 'having the ear' of the people in power. All we've had is Mandelson trying to privatise us, and no help whatsoever in getting any politicians to accept it's THEIR obligation to plug the hole in the pension fund
yet the CWU continue to give money to our chief executioners
