Recieved an e-mail today as well.
Hi, is anyone else interseted in the terrible way that our company treats Agency workers re:, tems and conditions and recent pay cuts? I for one am not proud of the company. It's shameful

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Thanks everyone for their help and advice.

So whats the difference or pitfalls between the RM and CWU harrasment service line?

I am not yet in the union, I have contacted them and will be receiving an info pack in the post. Only thing, is the casuals have been used during the industrial action. The said manager, who was a union rep, said it is not 'scabbing' if we as casuals cross picket lines.

So if as a member and RM casual, I can face any disciplinary action by refusing to work on strike days? A lot of us are have been caught in the short and curlies, because all they can do is dont ring us when they need us, especially when theyknow we are in the union and dont want to strike break.

strange thing. Do union reps change when they become managers and turn anti union? That is all we hear from him and other managers

Personally I have a distrust of any "service" offered by our caring employer especially if my complaint would be against one of their own managers.

I'm not sure of the second point, but I'm sure someone will know the answer.

Some of the nastiest managers I have come across in the job were formerly union reps or committee members. I think it's the "convert" thing

yeah because it's got to prove itself crossing that line - they can also be the laziest ones , the drunks , the lame , the useless + of course ! - nepotism - don't trust RM's corrupt agendas

if you do join the union - it helps if that manager's card is marked .

I was at another local office and discussed the issue with some staff and and another manager who all know the guy in question very well. They said he has a reputation for flying off the handle, and there was no excuse for him to treat anyone like that, especcially if they had done their job correctly. They said when he was a postie he played all the scams of the trade, and was surprised someone like him was ever made manager. Bit ironic he would be enforcing discipline on things he often did as a postie/driver. He is a bit of a loose cannon, and probably resorting to bullying because he often gets grief from his managers, for his incompetance or skills at passing the buck.

He was ok to me so far this week. If it happens again I will nip it bud, by taking up the advice given on here.
